@mento: This is probably, unironically, my favorite thread on Giantbomb.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Apr 19, 2007
This expanded edition of Persona 3 adds additional content and a continuation of the original game's storyline.
The King's screenshot journey through Tartarus.
It wouldn't be so obvious in P3P... man, fuck that game! I hate that it exists! I wish they'd waited a couple of years and made a Vita version of P3 that was actually an upgrade.
Fun fact: today's the first entry that uses my new naming system, where I can actually post these in the actual order I took them. Let's see if comedic timing is worth it!
Turns out it totally is. (For those curious among you, I just save the picture names to a Notepad file.)
Sinks in dorm rooms are really common.
In Japan or in general? I know that it's common to have bathrooms in bedrooms (as separate rooms, obviously), but didn't know much about random sinks.
The poisonous flower comment is actually foreshadowing, not just random creepy pyjama talk.
That much I understood. I'm guessing I'll have to wait a bit longer for it to pay off, because I'm already knee deep in Rin Tezuka jokes (mid September, about).
@video_game_king: I'd say in general. I had a sink in my university dorm (In the UK). Rooms with en-suite bathrooms had a sink in their room and another one in their bathroom. The guys designing dorms love sinks.
Yeah it comes a bit later. They never refer to the comment, but it's something you'd notice playing the game a second time, or the first time since you know it'll come up again!
In all the time I spent playing Persona 3 I never noticed the sink in the dorm room. I haven't been in all that many dorm rooms in real life, but the few I've been in have never had sinks in them. Or maybe they did and my obliviousness towards sinks carries over to real life?
The strangest part of all is that looking over my screenshots, Brooklyn is the only one with a sink in his room. Maybe it's an angle thing, but I haven't seen a sink in Akihiko's room or Junpei's or Fuuka's.
Looking over the pictures, I think this is going to be our sexiest update, yet.
Now I couldn't decide on which of these stingers to use for today's entry, so how about both?
I'd say "not that I've noticed", but I've only just started Social Linking with my party members, and the ones I'm Social Linking with are the ones I haven't used too much.
Yukari's about it, so far, in terms of party members I've Social Linked with. (Does Fuuka even count?) Two entries in, and she's already talking about her mom.
No, nothing like that. That would be crazy. I think it just means they're far more likely to get sick or something?

All right. I guess that means I should be fine.

Does this surprise you? Also, it gets worse.
Unfortunately, not as much sexy in this update. I mean, how can you match robo-humping?
Now I was going to find Princess Bubblegum porn to post here (censored, of course) to relate to the Sin My Gummy Sensei comment, but then I realized what a terrible idea that would be for everybody involved. So instead, something I'd have posted in the Persona 4 version of this thread if I'd done a Persona 4 version of this thread:
@believer258: no effect on S.Link level, just means they are likely already tired and could get sick. Both of which mean you're unable to use them in Tartarus for awhile if they do (tired is only what a day off, sick is at least a couple think there may be a RNG roll everyday to see if they recover). Probably my least favorite mechanic in the game, punishes you for playing basically.
I am scarily close to 1000 screenshots. Hell, I've already passed it if you include the screenshots I haven't posted in this thread. Am I going to stop anytime soon? Hell no!
Not only have I long passed 1000 screenshots, but I'm pretty certain that I'm going to pass the combined total of a bunch of other games I took a bunch of screenshots of. Hell, I could end up doubling them, at some point. Anyway, update.
Or maybe not. I keep getting errors when I try to upload the images, and this time, they're actually interfering with my ability to post them. Let's see if I can find a work-around.
Because I couldn't handle another damn pun.
You should play Persona 4 Arena after this if you want to see how Chie takes to Akihiko.
Also I assumed what's his face was talking about Alien.
Also I assumed what's his face was talking about Alien.
Because I've posted that clip from The Simpsons so many times that I needed to move onto another series entirely.
Aw man... Then I shall post it for you!
King of the Hill is a quality choice, though.
I prefer the longer version of the clip because of how abrupt it is. And as long as we're posting Simpsons clips...
Turns out I finally found a use for that clip. Huzzah.
I think in order to max s-link everyone in one playthrough you need to walk the dog on certain days. Don't remember though.
I actually have been walking Koromaru a lot, but that's only because I've maxed out my social stats and have wrapped up Mutatsu and Tanaka. The first classmate I met on one of my walks was Keisuke; the next was Kenji. I can tell this is going to be a worthwhile feature.

And only go to Tartarus on certain days, and decline certain phone calls, and correctly juggle all the female S-Links... It's such a ridiculously opaque system, and P4 is only slightly better (I managed to max everyone except Chie and Rise without using a guide). I hope the whole system gets an overhaul in P5, starting with individual S-Link stories having some impact on the rest of the narrative.

Yeah, I was able to max out all but old lady death, Saki or whatever her name was's brother, and band girl in Persona 4 without a guide, but P3 seemed a lot less lenient. I wound up following the max s-link guide with a few changes here or there, mostly if I wanted to get a persona of a certain arcana and wanted to get as high of a boost up front as possible, and that almost came back to bite me.
I'm mostly playing it by ear and going for which Social Links seem the most promising. Right now, I'm focusing on Chihiro and Hidetoshi at the expense of Keisuke and Bebe. I haven't even started the latter. Also, I'm devoting my Sundays to that dying kid who looks like a frog when he's angry.
@smcn: I can't remember if it's an interview in the design works or somewhere else, but I remember them saying you actually weren't meant to be able to max all of the social links in one playthrough. It's so difficult and complex because the creators thought they had designed it in a way that it actually wasn't possible to do. (Originally anyway, I guess FES is a little different) A lot of the systems, social links and combat in particular, seem a bit rigid and kind of have to be gamed in P3 since the team were more focussed on conveying themes than in P4 where they seemed to focus a bit more on the gameiness.
@video_game_king:What party have you decided to go with? Are you sticking with one, or swapping dudes in and out? Also posting on this site is borked again.

Yea, I get that vibe from the game, too. Time definitely plays a big factor, although I'm not sure to what effect. I can say that I sometimes feel crowded with the Social Links, though. Maxing out that dying frog kid is gonna be a bitch.

I'll sometimes swap around to make sure nobody's falling too far behind (and because even my characters are getting tired of the sidequests), but my main party is Brooklyn/Mitsuru/Aigis/Koromaru. Koromaru's slot swaps around a bit with Ken, though, although it's still Koromaru's.
@video_game_king: The dying dude social link is an automatic rank up very time you visit, so as long as you have 10 free Sundays you'll be able to max him. It's best just to focus on the characters you like, so if you can't stand Bebe then you can just ignore him. The max social link personas are pretty broken, so you only need one, especially if you buy a ton of skill cards.
MC/Brooklyn is pretty much a man one rage wrecking team, so I guess any party works!
(I literally just got to this part in Mother 3)
Does this mean I'm gonna have to make a Tanetane Island joke at some point? Because I think we missed that opportunity with the transsexual many updates ago.
You're right Aigis, that was a humorous joke.
I wouldn't think having my sucks strung up a flagpole would really be all that embarrassing. Holes or no holes, who gives a shit?

I hope you mean socks and not some weird sex act in the land of milk and also milk.
Two max Social Links in one entry? I'm insane! Or maybe just kinda lucky with the timing. Who the hell knows?
Also, Aigis is going to school with us. Sadly, she doesn't appear to have a Social Link, at least not one I know of.
@video_game_king: Aigis doesn't have a Social Link in vanilla Persona 3, but they added one for her in FES.
When and where? I'll skip the hell out of Keisuke to get this Link.
Also, why the hell was I thinking of this song when that fact arose?
I Really didn't like Yuko right off the bat, So I ignored her for half the game, then I discovered if I had gotten her just 1 more Social link level up I would've unlocked another social link friend...... Damn that bitch....
It doesn't become available until January, in the classroom.

Good. I'm in late October, so plenty more time to spend with my abusive, possessive girlfriend Chihiro.
So I've almost completed this game. Not quite, but I'm in January. And the main theme seems to be daddy issues.
EDIT: Also, it seems like skipping out on the Maiko social link is the single best thing I could have done, even skipping Keisuke and breaking Yuko's heart. No, really, she just stands there after school, every day, with a big broken heart above her head.
SPOILERS, MAN! I thought the theme was mommy issues!
When you finish, you'll probably have done more social links than I did. Tally up the mommy, daddy, and "both" issues, and we shall see which one this game has more of!
You are mistaken good sir, for that is exactly what it means!
His function is Ninja Consultant to the Decepticon Army
