Vinny, I'm proud of you for giving Demon's Souls another shot. The reason I like it is because I've really improved at it and am crazily better than when I started, and every time I pass someone's bloodstain, I feel better than them.

Don't you say another bad word about the 80s! It was terrible and hideous. That's why it's so fantastic!

Patrick Wolf's new single "The City" has some nice use of saxophone in a current pop song, though I guess it does sound a little 80s, but it's a great song. Also if you only associate sax with the 80s then surely you haven't heard John Coltrane? Or any number of other great jazz players.

On second thought , I agree: yeah GB, don't change a fucking thing, because people like Vigil80 still won't know the difference because they don't even give a fuck about videogames.
They just tune in to hear crucial and vital info like tooth brushing , ear cleaning, ass wiping and sleeping techniques or how normal people spend their weekends , because that's why people usually tune into videogame podcasts- to get that kind of top secret, highest clearance,  very hush-hush info.
 
Hey Vigil80, let me tell you a story  that might blow you away, so be careful!
Are you ready? Ok! 
 So: this morning, after I drank my coffee by HOLDING  THE CUP WITH MY RIGHT HAND  (vital info), I went to take a dump..in the TOILET! Wow, how exciting this must be for you!
Now here comes the best part: after I was done, I WIPED MY ASS with a dual-layered  TOILET PAPER ! BOOOOOOOOOOM! 
And then.... I FLUSHED THE TOILET! BAAAAAAAAAAANG!  I know :information overload!

Demon's Souls is all about exploiting the dumb AI and farming.  There are excellent FAQs that illustrate how to do that.  The trade off is that you have to play the game a very specific way with a very specific build, ignoring the enticing design of so many different classes and weapons that end up being useless.  The alternative is playing how you want and basically making it harder.

Duuuuuuude. Vinny. The last thing you should do is follow one of those power leveling guides for Demon's Souls. World tendency is something you should completely ignore until a second playthrough. The power leveling people take all the fun out of the game. Just play.

You should totally get Videogames Rodkin and Famous Vanaman on the Bombcast.  That is a terrific idea. 

Ryan is wrong about SAXOPHONE. I agree it is poorly used very often, and i am not a huge jazz fan. But Morphine, Menomena, X-Ray Specs and others have all used the saxophone to very good ends. open your mind Ryan, open your mind!

I'm kind of amazed how informed Vinny has gotten about Demon's Souls and he got pretty much everything right (which is impressive given how complicated it can be). That said this isn't a kind game to play the Vinny way and it would probably be more relaxing to not care too much about world tendency events the first time through. Sure, it's possible to get pure white and pure black in one play-through, but chances are you're gonna fuck up at first and fail the whole thing.
 
Also, Blueblood Sword IS really powerful, but getting it takes a lot of time (and it only gets more powerful as you get higher level). I'd say get a good magic damage weapon for a start (don't know how far you are, but the Crescent Falchion in 4-1 is imo the best early weapon to get).

Sounds like Demon's Souls is something to be avoided.  The whole dying
all the time thing about it reminds me a lot of that old Too Human game.
You died a lot in that game too to the point where it was making you 
become addicted to frustration & losing.  That old "Born to lose" tattoo 
starts making sense.

Giant Bomb should dub Catherine themselves.

Oh man when Vinny said Blueblood Sword it triggered some great memories and tingles no video game should be capable of.

The sax discussion is one of my favorite Giant Bomb bits of all time.
