Wow! Vinny remembered a hot 2010 mobile banger. Shibuya (now Shibuya Grandmaster) is a great puzzle game.

I started watching the video but had to turn it off when they began reading the dialogue on the screen. It is one of my biggest pet peaves when streamers do it, and It sucks so much.

So happy to see this pop up! I was just watching the Extra Life stream from last year where they had started to play Daemon_9 and was wondering if you guys were gonna give it another try. Glad to see it wasn't just wishful thinking.

I’m so, so happy to see them finally give 428 a look (and just as sad that I missed it live). Regardless of however they end up feeling about it, I’m just glad they gave it a chance. It’s a really special game and I hope more people check it out.

i made it 16 minutes. This is just too slow. Happy for y'all who've been wanting this, and hope they did it proper justice...it's just not for me.

Aww, they stopped right before they got to play as Achi and got to make more choices; I think even the start of his wouldn’t have been as slow as Kano’s intro is. But that’s how these things always go, unknowingly ending right before something good; no real way to avoid that.

While that still can be a wig, the texture looks exactly like Japanese hair with a lot of product. You should look at the photos from host clubs (especially from 10 years ago), they all look like that.

I can only speak for my self, but i didn't care for this one. Not at all engaging in any way. But looks like a bunch of people felt differently so that's good.

I think its because they are all sick but this video has some really weird energy and pacing.

I think some of the folks who were head over heels with 428 and demanded coverage of it forget the demands of a Quick Look or Playdate segment: you need something that can demonstrate its strengths in a relaitvely short period of time, and visual novels typically take a long while to get started, with all the exposition they have to lay down. Yes, if they had started with Achi, it would've been more eventful...but the tutorial didn't recommend that. Most of the other "good parts" people above are lamenting they "just missed" are still about a full hour away from where they stopped.

("Dick Dictum" is actually a legit translation of the original Japanese phrase there.)

Also, I think we're not giving Daemon_9 enough of the blame here. That was like watching a bad, cheap horror movie - with friends, but still. You can't fault the designers for their ambition, but their reach exceeded their grasp.

Had a whole rant about everyone's attitude during this show, but I'll just say maybe just skip a show if everyone is sick and not in the mood?

Made it to the 38 minute mark. Idk about this. Def not for me. You know the visual novel stuff isn’t for everyone. But even moreso is everyone is kinda crappy feeling and you can tell it feels off a bit. Hard watching when you know they aren’t feeling well. Take a rest duders, feel better.

@caseofundertow: The pun’s great, but beyond that it’s a stellar localization across the board. I’m fine with it taking a decade to get a game I love this much in English, because I can’t see it coming out at a point before now and getting nearly this level of love, which it deserved.

Also, even as one of the people who was super looking forward to them ever playing it for a while- I’m not going to blame Dan for not being interested, especially while sick. It probably was not the best fit for a stream while they were feeling down, but I’m just happy they looked at it at all. And it seemed like it was a last minute backup option to begin with, so I can’t fault anyone for not doing something else due to sickness either.

Dan’s whole shtick is making people play games that he likes and other people don’t but as soon as anyone plays anything he isn’t interested in, he completely checks out. Very fun dynamic.

I know that bad FMV games are kind of like the GBEast thing at this point, but it only works when the game is funny bad and moves at a clip. Sometimes despite the best intentions, you're just playing a bad game that isn't entertaining. Love the East crew but yah this wasn't great, and I have to agree with the one person who also hates hearing people read the dialog out loud, also not a fan.

everyone complaining maybe missed or didnt watch the daemon footage? shibuya was a little lackluster, go figure, it doesnt show well in that environment as most VNs do not, but daemon was entertaining as hell. more FMV please

I think that kind of almost anime looking hair is considered extremely cool in Japan, I see it constantly in movies and tv. It's so common I wouldn't have even have noticed if Abby hadn't pointed it out.

As soon as they started using photos I had a bad feeling about this.

Do any Chinese readers know if the text in this game is actually real text or just gibberish made by white people?

Visual Novels and livestreams don't mix very well, so I guess I don't necessarily blame them for skipping out on 428 Shibuya Scramble 30 minutes in. If nothing else, it seems like the kind of game I'd be interested in checking out myself... but I'm also going into a VN expecting a slow burn.

That said, I didn't much care for the Daemon_9 segment. What I saw of it during the Extra Life stream was pretty compelling, but seeing it to its conclusion was... less so.

Well, the uh... "Dick Diary" was a nice find! But I gotta agree with everyone who is saying that visual novels aren't a great fit for this feature (or maybe any GB feature). Good thing you guys noticed and switched over to something else.

This is not an FMV game. I wish it was.

Please play some real FMVinny! Like maybe Tex Murphy, or Gabriel Knight 2, or somethin. There's so much more out there.

This game is...AWFUL! The freezeframes I can handle, but live-action still frames with no spoken dialog??!! And the overwrought dialog, I mean it's definitely so-bad-it's-good right off the bat.

Also the two characters look like the Japanese Key and Peele during that "Lemme see your phone" scene, and I cannot unsee that.

I think you guys forgot about the "FIND ADAM" clue that came up early on. On one of the photos you can view in the files, he's wearing a t-shirt with a username on it (spartacus) that leads to the second Cloak Chat convo. It works in a normal browser, so if anyone was curious to what it is, you can just go to Cloak Chat and view it.

You saw this guy towards the end (the guy who freaks out after you log in to the site). He asks you for your email, and if you don't act quickly, he just rudely disconnects with you, which is actually kinda funny. Anyway, he emails you a link to the full video of the guy cutting his throat (it's much longer than the gif). There, you get more context and clues about what's going on and where to go next.

It's a pretty interesting idea for a game with an admittedly underwhelming pay-off. Glad you took another look at it after Extra Life.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I really enjoyed them playing shibuya scramble. Just like a quick look it was fun to get a look at a game I'm interested in and follow along the story while at the same time hearing the guys joke about it. In fact, the video finally got me to buy the game. I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea though. What I can't get behind however is the people here calling it a "terrible game" or whatever. What you have to realize is its a visual novel, emphasis on novel. You're more or less reading a book, everything else is window dressing dependant on how much of a budget the game has. Nothing seen in the video is out of the ordinary for the genre.

The other person is wearing a wig because he is in disguise, but that is almost certainly the real hair of the actor portraying Kano. Very much a product of the time in Japan.

Played through Shibuya Scramble a couple weeks ago. It's not for everyone, but if you've enjoyed a visual novel before, it's definitely worth checking this one out.

Whahaha has abby not ever seen japanese hair? xD how has she been to tokyo and not seen a bunch of people look exactly like that :') ? Though in all fairness they couldve been wearing wigs in tokyo too haha. I dont often watch gbeast play things, but seeing them play shibuya scramble was enjoyable as all helll imo:p

Interestingly Dan is kinda right about temperature and the immune system. That's arguably behind the body's increase in core temp when fighting an infection.

Though in my experience the main benefit of a steaming while having a cold is that it clears up congestion thus making life a bit more bearable.

EDIT: Abby's constant wig shaming is problematic at best. It's 2019.
