There’s just something about not catching this live and F5ing the site all evening waiting for the recording to be up.

Edit: how was Sexy Knux not an alternate title. :)

@heelbill: To be fair, Jeff usually doesn't play a game long before having to state his opinion on camera. I heard it's mostly story-based, with the deeper character stuff sold to you later on. So when you have a game with mostly ok gameplay before you unlock skills, and a fine story, you get the disconnect when the critics are saying the game is fun, and story deep. Ya gotta play the entire game with these types of things, or at least a good chunk kinda like RPGs.

Ben points out that he was really into Left 4 Dead 2. Maybe it's nitpicky, but I feel compelled to point out that Turtle Rock made the first Left 4 Dead but they did not make Left 4 Dead 2. Valve made L4D2 in-house. Turtle Rock was only involved with the expansion campaigns for L4D2.

Huh, I always thought they did L4D2 when they were part of Valve, TIL! I wonder if that at all explains why I like the first game and Back 4 Blood but didn't really get into L4D2. Though it was probably just L4D fatigue considering how quickly they released the sequel.

So if you wanna look into some "very online show" shit around FaZe clan, I strongly suggest looking into the Save the Kids token scam of early this year late last year where they straight scammed a bunch of their followers out of a lot of money.

Good to see Danny bring his more balanced thoughts on Guardians of the Galaxy. He really should've been on that quick look.

Geoff hates a Game, talks about it the most of all the people in the show. and no one else even has the chance to talk. It always goes that way. “Feels like shit I hate it” and Danny fortunately got some words into it but Geoff just doesn’t stop man. I don’t even like the game - but He starts rambling three times even after the discussion already ended it’s so ridiculous.

I think Guardians is the game that broke the camels back with regards to my tolerance for using the sticks as buttons. I literally fucking hate it.

Sticks as buttons should be removed and replaced with paddels on the standard controllers.

Haunted Chocolateer is an asset flip.

There. I said it. Someone needed to say it. Everyone is dancing around the obvious fact that it is borrowing art and mechanics from Stardew.

Wondering if the crew realizes that Destiny 2 dungeons _are not_ the raids. He said as much, but dungeons are long form 3 person content. Think halfway through 'strikes' and raids.

The raid comes with the expansion.

The DUNGEONS are real expensive dungeons that (while i think should come with the fucking thing you pay for) are separate.

Its confusing. But it matters.

@larmer: If this game comes out in 2022 and looks the exact same with the same UI and all the same mechanics, then I'll agree with you. But for now, so little is known/has been seen there's no telling what will be in the finished product and what are just placeholders or something.

I mean, how can you mention Mega Drive / Genesis and then not ask about Bare Knuckle or Streets of Rage.

Jeff, I just potty trained my second child. I got a little potty that goes on the floor and tell my kid to go pee every 30 minutes. Took about a week and a lot of underwear.

I still don’t believe anyone actually thinks the story of marvel’s avengers is good. All those characterizations are just so bland and the story is a big wet fart.

I get what he was saying, but Ben calling a game that came out last year a "modernized" version of a game that came out 4 years ago is funny. As if 2017 is now ancient times.

Not many players check out Destiny dungeons... so they're going to paywall them? That's a surefire way to make the engagement with them even lower. Sounds like they want to create a self-fulfilling prophecy where they scrap dungeons entirely, citing low numbers. But they'll be at fault for making the numbers even lower.

One thing to note about Rockman, Megaman's Japanese name(s) - Bass is not actually Bass there, he's named Forte. But Protoman is named Blues, so it's Rockman & Blues.

I don't think I really understood Jan's comparison of FFXIV to Destiny 2. To be fair, there is A LOT of content in XIV (which I agree can be overwhelming for a lot of players), but the actual onboarding of that content is fairly straightforward, due to how story focused the game is. The general advice to new XIV players is to 'stick to the main story' (or MSQ), do your class/job quests, and follow that through the expansions all the way to the current endgame. Now if you want to break off from that path to do optional dungeons, side quests, or older Endgame content from prior expansions, you can do that too, but if you want to follow the 'main part' of the game (i.e. the MSQ), it's a very linear path that the game makes very easy to follow.

I think Destiny 2 in it's current state is just in a completely different situation. There's story content that's existed in that game before that's no longer there due to 'the vault', and that experience for new (or returning) players is completely different today than say someone who played around launch time. As a result, if you don't keep up with the game, it can be confusing what 'content' you should be doing, and prior advice can now be outdated.

Not that FFXIV hasn't changed significantly over the years since A Real Reborn launched, but by comparison, XIV's approach of 'just follow the MSQ' is fairly easy to understand, and has been the same advice new players have been getting for years as a result. So I just don't see much comparison there between both games.

I agree on both counts. If anyone wants to hear more of Danny's thoughts, he was on this week's MinnMax Show where he discusses this game and Age of Empires IV. The others in that crew were also pretty high on GotG overall.

Hey Ben: When you are reading other people's news reports at least credit them.
