The interesting thing for me on Dans questionnaire bits is so many of those are things taught in elementary school. Which in turn makes me wonder how the US education system works. Is it teaching pupils to just pass exams?
Then I remember people like Vinny who has amazing grasp on things from so wide variety things that it cannot be just that..

The US primary education system has plenty of problems, but Dan is not representative of anything. Dan is "special".
I am totally for asking questions about things you don’t understand. There are a lot of things that are confusing that are totally fair game to not know about. My problem is how did Dan and his father not retain any knowledge from elementary school? How do you not know what bacteria and viruses are? This is the kind of stuff they teach you like three years in a row in middle school just so you understand it. Do they also not know what a rectangle is? Who George Washington was? I’m talking about stuff that is inherent in US education.
I want to hear a reaction track of Dan's sister and nieces listening to this podcast. No, I want to see a video of the reaction of them listening to this podcast.
I love these podcasts. Regarding Dan saying he knows he could just google but would prefer to talk about it with someone he knows - I think this is a case of him not really caring about what the actual correct answer is to the question but just wanting to see if him and the other person/people can talk/figure it out themselves? Like, figuring out a riddle or a puzzle, you lose a lot of the appeal if you just google the answer. If it was really a burning question he had I think he would just research it.
There is way too much "you're really smart" and "you're really dumb" going on. Intelligence is the ability to acquire knowledge and use it. Whether or not you are smart is someone's judgement of your intelligence as you display it. There is no objective means to define someone as smart. You two are both intellectually lazy and intelligent. Stop thinking about what other people say about it, or change your habits.
I know it was 4am and they were drunk, so I take anything said with the largest grain of salt, but the "no one is smart, everyone just pretends because they want to appear smart" take is the worst take ever.
Regardless, I am a fan of this podcast being a yearly holiday tradition.
I love this podcast every year. I'm glad Dan and Paul get to hang out and share something.
With that said, we live in an age of wonders where you can look up information on just about everything so why not do so? It doesn't stop you from having great conversations with people. Heck you
Then again, like others have said, maybe it was just the late night and the booze. ;)
