Patrick: "What does 'hit' mean?"

I can't tell if you're poking fun at Patrick or the poor translation / explanation of game mechanics. The accessory says it increases "Strike", which actually increases the stat "Hit", which has nothing to do with your chance to hit and is actually just your power with ranged weapons. Actually I just realized.. do Barle/Bucca's close range attacks (whack with butt of the crossbow and wrench bonk, respectively) use the Hit stat or the Pwr stat? I'd be very surprised if the game actually took that into consideration. It would mean giving power tabs to them after everyone else's power stats are maxed wouldn't be a complete waste.

I can't blame 'em for not checking out the books. They look completely ordinary, blend in with the background and R&P really don't care enough to hunt around checking every little thing like that. The rewards aren't exactly great either, I recall. The Black Rock and... something else. Don't get me wrong, Dark Eternal is one of the strongest triple techs, but with no group healing and the three weakest physical attackers (I think), that party isn't exactly beginner-friendly. Taking an accessory slot kind of sucks, too.

I can however blame them for not taking a moment to notice the music! Gawd! Corridors of Time is great, even if it is kind of short and repetitive. It fits the Kingdom of Zeal perfectly, though.

I'm kind of surprised at how accurate their guesses and predictions are. Some are just following JRPG tropes, but the lavos-as-a-power-source guess was a little uncanny. Great episode though, loved their reactions to Zeal.

Under 30 minutes? Come on now.

At this point I will try to continue watching these but the way Ryan plays drives me insane. It's almost as if he is actually trying to irritate those watching, which wouldn't surprise me. And I'll say it again, they are using the "Oh" thing WAY WAY WAAAAAAAY too much to the point of distraction. Can you not let something happen without one of you going "Oh!"? It's stupid frankly.

And if you are going to play, AND post segments under 30 minutes, PAY ATTENTION. I am tired of half of each ER being you two trying to figure out where to go simply because you aren't actually reading what the NPC's are telling you.

I have been inspired and started my own Endurance Run, except I'm going through a game called Robotrek. Man the translation is so bad but it's really not a bad game at all.

I wonder what they will do once Janus' prophecy that they were told comes to past and whether Ryan and Patrick will do any of the sidequests near the end of the game.

Okay, I am now an ER: Chrono Trigger complainerr. I will continue to enjoy each episode as it comes out, however, I have a complaint. One of the funnest parts of the Persona 4 ER was the banter (i.e. things were slow in the game and Jeff and Vinny would start talking about their day). In this ER it is almost too focused on the game and not enough on the people playing. Half of the magic of the first ERs was watching the GiantBomb crew playing it. I don't care how you play the game, and by all means don't force a personal relationship if you don't have one, but get lost in the experience! Two people playing a game together, not for work, not because you must, but because it is fun. After all That is why we watch.

They sound bored while playing this game, like it is just a work obligation.

Nope. You just complain in every video that you comment on thats ER related. I remember your name and how every time I see a comment under it it is full of complaints and untrue statements.

They are clearly enjoying the game a lot. Otherwise they would not sound very interested.

And to happypup, I think the reason for your complaint is that in P4 after they found out the basics of each enemy in a dungeon, they were pretty much on cruise control. Vinny would play and Jeff would bring up a topic and they would talk. With Chrono Trigger, the ATB system is just what the name implies, its active. So for this game, Ryan and Patrick's mental capacities seem to be busy trying to not die in battles.

These are the only other two comments I have made on this endurance run for your consideration.

All of this not fighting is just going to bite them in the ass later.

Seriously. The episode where they have to grind because they can't beat a boss is going to be super boring.

I decided to replay this game when the endurance ran began I beat it just the other day and skipped fights all the time. I didn't have to grind at any point.

Anyone else worried about them skipping so many enemies? I think I was 5-6 levels higher at this point :(

Not worried at all ;) I skipped those guys all the time

Sorry if I was being to negative for your tastes in those comments. I am also sorry my opinion on why I am not enjoying this ER as much as the Persona 4 ER upsets you.

@Konanda: I expect them to fly straight into Lavos without even realizing the game opened up for side stories/quests and some of the best gear/weapons. :P

Yeah, the SNES version's translation strikes again. Like, the translators couldn't even be bothered to stay consistent with either "Hit" or "Strike"? I'm pretty sure when Marle/Lucca attack with the butt of their weapons, it does indeed use their PWR stat, which is why it does crap damage compared to their regular ranged attacks.

And yeah, the "clue" about book checking is really obtuse, especially in Patrick and Ryan's case where they didn't even know you could check the books because they look like random-ass background objects. Maybe it makes modern games too "easy", but I kinda prefer nowadays, when interactable objects are generally highlighted in one way or another. In the 90s and earlier, when you just had had to mash A on every fucking object and wall in a JRPG in case it was a secret passage or item you could inspect, I really can't say that was a good use of anyone's time.

Frankly, I never really liked any of the triple techs that required a specific accessory. Almost none of them seemed worth the accessory slot, when you have perfectly fine triple techs that don't require an accessory slot.
