@apdls: Though I guess it gets a little complicated because 3 of those handheld games are remakes of console games.

@faridmon: You are not correct on your console/handheld point. Prior to Three Houses:

Console: OG, Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn (7)

Handheld: Binding Blade, Blazing Blade, Sacred Stones, Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem, Awakening, Fates, Echoes (8)

ALSO only two of those console games made it to the west, while 6/8 handheld ones did. And 5/7 console games came out on the NES and SNES. So from 2001 until now 10/12 games have been handheld only. It is absolutely a handheld dominant series, although Genealogy, Path of Radiance and now Three Houses are all console games and considered up there with the best of the best.

3 of those 8 Handheld are remakes of their console counter parts....

The irony is that, Dan on the QL, said that the console ones were offshoot where handheld has more of those than the consoles lol

I did say that in west its regarded as handheld, but back in Japan where the game was made, its not.

Watching this quicklook makes me think a playdate with Dan playing Disgaea would be a fun video.

I love how wooed you (and I) all were from Catherine being so amazingly Goddess-like on the battlefield! Catherine, look at me! Look at my axe. :-D Disappointed she is male-only for romancing.

This Fire Emblem looks pretty good, might give it a go when I get hold of a Switch. Thanks GBeasts for the tasty Quick Look and laughs.

@steveurkel: Awakening is a good entry to the series if you dont want a game that's as heavy on the social persona-styled gameplay. But Three Houses is looking like the best modern Fire Emblem available. It still needs to get out of the honeymoon phase, but right now all signs point to it being regarded much more highly than awakening and fates in the fanbase. At this point I'd avoid fates entirely unless you really really only care about gameplay and nothing else.

Dan: "I'm gonna play fast and loose because there's a lot more game to show." Proceeds to play the most conservative Fire Emblem I've ever seen.

Golden Deer is the one true house. Everything else is a lie.

Wasn't expecting Dan to be hosting this one. Wasn't expecting Dan to like Fire Emblem. Wasn't expecting a movie-length QL.

Is it just me or are all the characters in this game hot as fuck? There is just something about them that turns me on. I can’t put my finger on what it is, though.

Haven't touched FE since a little bit of the mobile game and Awakenings. Hope this grips me more than Awakenings, even though I lost motivation based on permadeath and my refusal to turn it off.

Fire Emblem got its start on the Famicom, and has had many mainline games on home consoles, though portables took over for a while.

There were two games on Famicom/NES, three on Super FC/SNES (not including Satelleview stuff), one on GameCube and one on Wii.

I find it funny how much Dan hates Claude as I immediately loved him - always go for the charm! Golden Deer for sure!

Hello everybody, grooming is when an older person attaches themselves to a young person to manipulate and warp their worldview to the point that they are romantically interested in their predator when they come of age. A time skip doesn't really excuse the weirdness. 'bye!

So...Dan "paying attention to the story" is "I think Rhea is some kind of higher-up in the Church"

Well at least nothing has changed

Is it weird this is the first game that makes me want to buy a Nintendo console since several console generations? I don't even know anything about Fire Emblem but this quick look is really selling this to me.

I ended up borrowing a friend's Switch and buying this game and boy was it a good decision. I put 120 hours into two back-to-back playthroughs and basically loved every minute. GOTY for me so far.

Whenever i see a strong ally in games like these, i know the intended feeling is for me to be happy & psyched for it, but i'm just worried that they'll take all my kills & experience and then dissapear.

Apart from the backgrounds and the jaggy black lines around the characters, this looks like a pretty awesome game. I don't get why the professor has to be so young though. His age might be a ? but it seems like it's somewhere between 20 & 23. I guess they don't want the player to feel like an old dude surrounded by youthful people but still want you to be their teacher for the gameplay mechanics?

@onemanarmyy: To be fair, the main character’s age becomes a major plot point and there are story reasons why the actual age is unknown. And the romance can’t happen until the characters are adults. It is weird on its face though.
