Do people not get that it is "the worst game they played"? If I got the same bugs that brad got I would totally nominate it for the award. The fact that you or I didn't get the same glitches or played it after they fixed some of it, is irrelevant to the argument.

I get biggest disappointment. I was very disappointed too. But worst game? That's just coo-coo bananas. I've seen them play a hundred worse games on here in 2017.

Brad is being hyperbolic and overly emotional. Biggest disappointment sure, but brad outright lies about stuff like the ending and massively undersells the sidequest and gameplay.

Andromeda being on this list is kinda gross. It absolutely deserved most disappointing, but not this.

I feel like Biggest Disappointment and Worst Game shouldn't really be two separate categories in the future. The case everyone was making for ME:A seemed to fit way more for Disappointment, because they put a ton of emphasis on how bad it was when compared to the quality of the rest of the franchise. If we're talking about objective worst, I feel like Bubsy should've been the clear winner.

I love how they added "That We Played" to the category title and people still act like these are undeniable commandments from on high.

What do people not understand about these awards exactly? It's always about passion in just about every category; Brad's (and most everyone else's) passionate disgust over Andromeda won out over "Boy, Bubsy is a deeply terrible, lazy game that isn't even self-aware and totally shouldn't have been made."

Is it possible to have fun playing Andromeda? Sure. Is it the worst game they played? I think they made the case, and it wasn't just Brad. Get over it.

I don't care that they nominated it. The idea that it should win is the crazy part to me. I mean...fucking Drawn to Death and Bubsy are better(even by a small margin)? Really? No way.

But hey, it is what it is. Different experiences, opinions, etc.

And what, exactly, is wrong with someone commenting about their opinion on the matter? Isn't that what this comment section is for?

I mean, I know I'm not a well known game critic or anything, but I don't see what's wrong with me saying I don't think Andromeda was bad enough to win this category.

@decku: I disagree. Even if you distanced it from the franchise, it was incredibly technically poor, the characters were bad, it was narratively incomplete, and so on.

Pretty much this. I ran into everything Brad ran into and just had the worst time. Trust me I PAID FULL PRICE for a NEW MASS EFFECT game. I wanted to enjoy myself! I desperately played, beat the game, and got some additional trophies just to try to convince myself I was wrong. I never got past it. I hated my time with that game.

I can totally recognize that this is their experience, but I just don't understand Brad's utter disgust for MEA. It deserved to win most disappointing I recognize that, (even if I didn't hate it nearly as much as others), but I truly feel there was a number of fun aspects to the game.

Again I'm not going to sit here and say "HOW DARE THEY", I just had such a different experience.

The idea that ME:A is worse than fucking Drawn to Death and Bubsy is one of the most insane things I've ever heard.

It's not that insane when you consider they expected both Drawn to Death and Bubsy to be bad games in the first place. Honestly if either of those games were good they would have easily taken the "Most Surprising" category.

I really disliked ME:A, easily most disappointed I've been with a Bioware game. But to say it's buggier than any big budget game Brad's ever played in a world with Bethesda open-world games seems a tad hyperbolic.

I played ME Andromeda this Winter so Imust have gotten a better version of it. I had no bugs at all, the facial animation wasn't great but it wasn't bad either.

Andromeda is just a boring game. Not the worst this year.

Completely agree. For me even when you take away the well documented and numerous bugs, the game that is left is not just a dull, repetitive, boiler-plate open world game, it is actively irritating and grating. It is an RPG where the story, world (in the context of this game) and characters are not only poorly written but poor in concept also.

To add to that, I know this point also fits into disappointment but they mentioned it, the first contact scene is the point where they just completely detonate all the promise of the game's premise.

That would be reasoning for it to be "most disappointing." Expectations not being meet = disappointing. I think the main reason they gave worse game to ME:A is the bugs/glitches, which is fair. I never really ran into any serious problems, so that obviously affected my overall enjoyment/opinion on the game.

Seems like Brad hit every single glitch in the game, numerous times. If that was me, I'd probably hate it too. Makes me wonder what they would be saying about it if they didn't hit so many ridiculous bugs during their playthroughs, though, but there's no way of ever knowing that.

@exsiccation: You've put way more thought into any of this than I have. My simple thing was that I played Andromeda(at launch), and I played Drawn to Death. Drawn to Death is a far worse game(to me, obviously). I never said anything about Andromeda being better now, after patches, btw.

Glitches aside, a lot of people seem to dislike the story/characters far more than I did, too. Story wasn't amazing or anything, but I had no real issue with it, and I kinda liked most of the crew to varying degrees.

Now if I were to sit down and make a list of the worst games of 2017 ME:A might be on there somewhere(even though I enjoyed playing it), because the state of it at launch is undeniable, even if I didn't run into anything all that bad. It just wouldn't be at the top.

Maybe we don’t need this category anymore if this is how it’s going to go. Pretty much felt like a re-hash of most disappointing when it came to MEA. Abby had it spot on when she said talked about it having any redeeming aspects means it should be off compared with some of the other trash on the list.

@decku: Did you not see the footage, it was a buggy mess, doesn't matter what franchise it belongs to. But it only makes it worse that it belongs to one of the biggest franchises out. It was bad enough that they stopped making mass effect games lol.

Wait, people cared about Bubsy at one point? What? Why? Also, I bought Mass Effect: Andromeda for $15 two weeks after it came out. The game is so bad that even GameStop wanted to get rid of it. Also also, the YouTube clip of Drawn to Death played during this videocast literally ended with the person saying "Wow, this sucks."

What I'm saying is, these are all really terrible games.

I went back and tried to play some ME:A again (I ploughed my way through the whole thing once) and couldn't even make it to the Nexus station. Utterly dreadful. It immediately made me sad again.

Hearing Brad comment on the bugs and issues he ran into reminded me about all that stuff (I'd managed to forget) and I'm glad I didn't play it enough a second time to hit those again as it may have broken my heart.
