When Johnny V was doing the Adam Boyes bit, all I could think of was Philip Seymour Hoffman.

I fucking love this show, the people in the show, the people who run the show, the people who watch the show, the people who buy premium to support the people who run the show, and the people who allow Giant Bomb to take over a room in a hotel and deal with the loud and rowdy games industry people throughout the night. Just absolutely fantastic stuff. Every. Single. Year. Seriously, this is the greatest shit ever. It gives us a perspective into the PEOPLE in the video games industry like no other 5 minute edited interview from a person with a mic and a cameraman in front of a can, and each segment is so well put together with personalities that mesh well and Jeff "is still a threat" Gerstmann hosting the ever living shit out of this show like no host ever has, is just amazing to watch.

Considering that I was watching it at 3am, I'm not sure if that last segment was real or a fever dream...

I agree, I have no idea how anyone in the industry can want to work with these people. Incredibly unprofessional, and not in a funny way.

You guys know that they are just hanging out, right? It's not a business meeting. And also, you can just end the video any time you want.

@whatshisface: To each their own I guess ... these segments with Johnny, Adam and Lang just seem like opportunities to get the gang back together. I look forward to the closing night stream for that same reason ... it's a chance to see these friends get together, shoot the shit for an hour or so, and talk about what's been going on in their lives for the past year - sometimes it's about games, most times it's not, and that's a different perspective on the industry that's not really in other shows.

Absolutely, and I don't watch -- but do you really think a supposed industry professional can act like this, even outside a business meeting, and not potentially have to face consequences from their higher-ups? I know I'd go "THIS guy is going to be in charge of our product? I think not".

This is far from the first time they've been on the couch or shown up in a similar style. They've shown up on the GB E3 couch for 5 years, and they've mentioned this is one of the only times they get to get together and hang out as friends. Jeff is one of those friends.

They are adults. If they aren't worried about this effecting their professional lives then you shouldn't either.

Great show this year, thanks GB.

For one thing, at least two of these people don't really have a "higher-up." It seems to have worked out pretty okay for them so far.

But the main thing is, you really should be able to act like a jackass with your friends without it costing you your job. You should be more than your role at work. Whether or not you approve of this specific drunken fooling around, not having your every action evaluated in terms of your value to a company is something we should all strive for. Well-rounded people are happier, better people.

That's what YOU'D say? Well, they'd better shut it down then. This comment is great when you realize these guys have been coming on Giant Bomb streams for years and years now in this state...and they are still "in charge of our product." There aren't a lot of people that Lang has to answer to at IG, by the way.

Hey, maybe they're just really good at their jobs despite what they act like here? I don't think Boyes would leave a position at Sony to go join his chucklehead friend at his comparatively miniscule company unless maybe they were both reasonably confident in their abilities. IG isn't some forward-facing publicly-traded company where they have to walk on eggshells. Microsoft isn't going to shut down Killer Instinct because one of their execs drunkenly sang "Let Me Clear My Throat" on a video game livestream that a few thousand people were watching.

Fuck, I actually DO think these segments have worn out their welcome so I'm kind of with you on not watching (although I did). But acting like this segment - comparatively tame when put against stuff that has happened in the past - is some abhorrent incident that will result in job loss and be a black mark on the video game industry is hilarious.

I really enjoyed the Ed/John section. Separating mellow Ed away from the Chicago folks was a pretty good idea.

As one of those assholes who never died after the first couple of hours of Shadow of Mordor, because you just start blowing through everything and nemesis system became inconsequential; it is great to hear that they are introducing a harder mode where there is more emphasis on strategy.

I don't really understand how some people like Giant Bomb but are appalled by this kind of content at the same time because those seem like two very different people to me.

I mean if you think this goes too far to be enjoyable and you'd rather watch things where the participants aren't drunk off their ass then I can understand your opinion perfectly but being like "Fuck yeah!" at UPF shows and "How embarassing and awful! How do these people have a job?" at this content is baffling to me.

I dread for a world where you can not act drunk and loose outside of work so long as you perform your job as you should.

Yup! The nemesis system was kind of meaningless because I never really recognized any of the random orcs. Once you figure out that game's combat you just breeze through everything going "wait was that dude supposed to be a dude whatever on to the next orc beheading." Made the ending even less impactful I guess.

I can understand how people may think the last bit was embarassing because personally i dont like to watch people that are slurring there words drunk like Greg Miller seemed when he was on. The guys were completely together though and the segment was fucking hilarious for my taste.

What's a better barometer for the maturity of the medium: a few dudes getting drunk on a livestream together, or the bullshit that is the Video Game Awards (in its various incarnations over the years) that happens while the people running it are COMPLETELY SOBER?

Yeah, I get it. Sober people don't like interacting with or watching drunk people. But c'mon. This ain't gonna be the end of these guys' careers.

A lot of people in the games industry are unprofessional two faced snakes, the good ones are just goofy like Lang, Johnny and Adam.
