i'll concede they may be wrong about the general opinion of things, but they're not wrong for feeling the way they did, as long as they're being honest about it.

new resident evil looked like a step in the right direction to me, but haven't seen the entire sony conference and haven't played the demo so can't really give an opinion on either.

I don't know what their sources are on RE7, but I've seen mixed feelings on it. Not many people seem to think it's a great thing.

As for jaded, I wouldn't say jaded, I'd say they're just being honest. VR fatigue has set in a little, so that side of things probably isn't particularly exciting for them at this point. I thought parts of it were cool, but in all honesty, Bear McCreary and Kojima aside, it kind of fell flat for me as well. Or maybe I'm just absorbing the GB crew's bad vibes?

I'm surprised none of them saw or spoke of Persona 5. There's a 12-minute offscreen video out there of a new game demo they showed off at E3.

Edit: And now Jeff just brought it up without saying much. Guess he didn't bring it up in the discussion because it didn't sound like he actually saw the demo first hand.

I'd throw AVGN Adventures in with Shovel Knight, also plays great with cool music/art. The closest to a modern Mega Man shooty game since MM 8 and 9.

@golguin: That's the way they feel I suppose, they're being pretty grounded about it. No point trying to force excitement or optimism if you don't feel it. Anyway, the internet is a very emotive place - lots of extremes from one side to the other so naturally there are strong opinions on RE7 and Sony's E3 Conference.

But I'd also say that when you've been in the business as long as the GB crew has, I think they'd be right to approach a lot of things with a grain of salt and to approach hesitantly to some things.

Lmao Shovel Knight is closer to Zelda 2 than Mega Man, the bosses have a bit of a Mega Man feel, as do some of the enemies, but overall the game isn't that much like Mega Man (also it's like...way more than any Mega Man game I've played.)

Though I think Mega Man 1, 2, and 9 are solid games. I had fun with Mega Man X on an emulator like a decade ago, and MMZ was a neat little series besides those weird fairy things.

Do people looking to blow up planes typically wear things that say bomb on them? I've never understood that concern. Of course, airports are full of paranoia but still. Seems completely irrational to profile based on the word bomb. You should be able to wear what you want.

After hearing what brad said about the blog concerning clash royal, i happily uninstalled that pile of crap without a sliver of remorse. I am glad i didn't invest money in that garbage and am glad i got out of it before i did.

Megaman X is a great game, no question. It even has a dang hidden Dr. Light / Ryu hadouken, c'mon.

I really enjoyed the RE 7 demo. I love the new look and feel

I'm a bit surprised that Jeff likes/liked the Megaman Battle Network series. But FUCK YES, Jeff likes the BN series! That series is awesome. It seems like everyone who likes classic Megaman turns their nose up at BN, so it's nice to hear someone who doesn't. I was sad when they stopped BN and started on that Star Force series, which is a spiritual successor. For the longest time I ignored them because it just wasn't what I wanted. I recently tried the first game out, though, and it's actually decent. Probably will play the others at some point. I still wish they had just continued with Battle Network, though.

I have always curved the bills of my hats and will never wear a flat-brim one. I think the flat-brim looks dumb. I don't care what's considered "cool." I also don't wear hats very much, so it doesn't matter a whole lot.

Drew workin' on those Night Moves. Always love his random reference jokes, and I actually understood it this time.

Also, Jeff, the whole Steam login mentioning PS3 users is not a good indicator of being old - it still displayed that until around this time last year. Whenever they redesigned the icon. They kept it on there for a really long time.

Last time I had cavities filled, they asked me if I wanted anesthetic, and I said no, like a dumbass. Don't do that. Hurt like shit. Speaking of which, I haven't been to the dentist for about 3 years, and part of my teeth have started to hurt recently, so I probably need more cavities filled...

Mega Man X is the best game in the series, period. Amen. But the X series in general is a LOT more shaky than the old Mega Man games (X and X2 are the only really good ones...they went downhill fast)

I've been hearing what the GB crew have been hearing. It's fine that this demo is a statement for "horror is coming back", but if this was the entirety of the new game in mechanics I'd never touch it. The demo has some nice visuals and atmosphere, but considering I love RE for survival horror this JUST horror demo was boring.

Well, the arc of all Mega Man series tends to be deep into the ground. Aside from reg. MM where 2 nailed it after 1 had that prototypey roughness, the earliest one in any iteration tends to be enough for me.

I love pizza, and I have eaten pizza from a lot of different places. I have had really great pizza, and really shitty pizza.

I can say with 100% confidence, that CiCi's pizza is the absolute bottom of the barrel. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Its cheap and buffet style, which are both red flags.

The pizza they served back in middle school in the early 90's was a lot better than CiCi's.

About the BFG room in Doom that they discuss: I watched a speedrun the other day and the easiest way to beat that room is to apparently jump around outside a whole other part of the level until you fall through the ceiling and onto the platform with the BFG on it without triggering the trap sequence at all. EZPZ.

Fight Club is a thousand times better than Boondock Saints. Doesn't even belong in the same discussion.

So you never played PT? They made PT but worse. RE ripping off the exact same idea is not exciting.

You're talking about sources for their opinions.. .they're coming from themselves and other people in the industry they talk to. If you want to be excited, feel free. But getting mad at them because they didn't think the Sony showing was great is very fan boy-ish. I also have no idea what people were excited about. A super generic zombie game trying to be Last of Us 2, remaster of Crash announced like it was some huge fucking deal (seriously the only thing they introduced with a speech LOL). Besides God of War (legit awesome surprise) and Horizon (which we have already seen a lot of) it was boring to me.

Here in the US too. Curved caps are definitely cool again more than flat brims. Even rappers and everything (who made flat brims cool) are wearing and putting out the old curved brims.

Their comments about Resident Evil 7 surprised me too. The demo wasn't mind blowing but it was far from terrible. And also yeah I thought the Sony press conference was the best press conference of the show. I was very surprised to see how turned off the Giant Bomb crew was by it.

As an old fart I can attest to the fact that at least back in the 80's and early 90's flat brims were a sign of true dorkiness. It still strikes me as odd to see young people wearing flat brimmed hats. Reminds me of something a dorky dad would wear along with his black socks and flipflops.

I'm glad that Giant Bomb's opinions don't always align with my own opinions, or whatever the popular opinions of the time are.

If you're looking for an entertainment medium as a way of validating your opinions, there are plenty of influencers out there to watch who will do just that.

Scientific lists like this are why I stay right here at GiantBomb.com. :-D
