Giant Bombcast 515: The Bionic Beaver

This week we're hot in pursuit of moose and squirrel, but along the way we run into Street Fighter V: AE, Horizon DLC, Nintendo's tiny Direct, horrible Silicon Valley beverages, Canadian computers, and thoughts on the state of the arcade scene.

The Giant Bombcast is the world's most beloved video game podcast, and now it's available in video form.

I like Rorie a lot but I do think he needs to slow down a bit. It can be tough to understand him sometimes because he trips over his own words a lot.

As I remember, Rorie had a personal challenge to speak decently. If I am remembering correctly about all this, he surmounted it.

I recognize Boris and Natasha, I loved Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons. I should listen for who the third guy is, can't be Dudley Do-right.

P.S. Natasha was a lot hotter in the cartoons.

The Rorie Podcast feat. Guests

Eh? I honestly haven't heard him in giant chunks of this, like the DBFZ section. Y'all laser focus too hard on him when he's here.

On the topic of level scaling in WoW: it's a smart choice. Guild Wars 2 used this and it let me do my favorite thing: play on my favorite character / class to my heart's content while earning level appropriate rewards and roaming with friends. I usually have a die-hard favorite, but I hate following friends around if I'm too high and I'd kill their exp / the mob too fast. This actually makes me want to return to WoW so I can have a jolly time as a tree. It's all I ever wanted!

@mupod. Thank you so much for that question. I NEED the bomb crew to find and play these games as soon as possible, at least the ones not already covered by Drew.

A Day in the Life (or A Week in the Life according to Wikipedia) sounds a heck of a lot like Cart Life, but for teens.

Offshore Fishing and Robot R&D (where you build robots and test them by crushing or dunking them, according to the wiki) also could be amazing to see today.

What’s crazy is you can’t even find a screenshot of any of these online, besides cross country Canada. I need to know what these look like! We had the ICON at my school in Toronto, but I think my teachers were too scared of technology because I don’t ever remember using them for anything but typing tutors.

Ports are important for me on the Switch because i didn't own a Wii or WiiU, i don't know how many people are in the same position, but every decent game from the last two systems is a potential purchase for me.
I could play some of those games on Dolphin, but there are games like Mario Galaxy which have motion controlled cursors permanently on the screen, or are otherwise hampered by motion control mechanics, cleaning up those games and re-releasing them without the need for arm waggling makes total sense.

Actually all Dark Souls games had connected worlds. Even Bloodborne was almost all connected with some jumps here and there. Out of all those games only Demon's Souls had a true hub that was completely separate from the actual maps you played on, it's just that Dark Souls 2 and 3 let you travel between bonfires that people might have forgotten that those worlds were also connected. The original Dark Souls also featured some map jumps as you couldn't travel to some of those locations on foot and had to reach "teleport" points of sorts. The key difference is that the original Dark Souls didn't let you teleport from the start, forcing you to backtrack through a lot of rather dull and uninteresting areas just to get somewhere else, which is probably one of the reasons why Brad never actually finished the game - apart from being connected, the level design in the first game is pretty bland compared to quite literally every other entry in the series.

Why do I feel Jeff was fucking around with Labo shit that he couldn't talk about? Seems very up his alley in a way considering his apparent admiration for VR.

Why was Fearless Leader a nazi??

That always puzzled me, the leader of the Russian spies had a German accent with clear Hugo Boss-inspired clothing.

Skipped to the end of last week's episode to avoid listening to Rorie any longer. Imagine my surprise when he appeared again in this episode. Sputtering nonsense at 100 mph. Using more words to say less than any man since Trump.

The only game I care about coming to the Switch is a new Animal Crossing.
