@onemanarmyy: also go back and actually play the games you thought were so creative and good. Most likely new games built on their ideas but arent the exact same. I do agree that games have got use to just all adding rpg mechanics to hit the critics check mark of added complexity but that is more of a critics fault. Uncharted could have gotten points for having unlockable weapons but kept it as a game where guns are just guns. So its not a neccessary thing to do to score hightly or be liked. I dont know man maybe the days of action shooters and slashers with rpg mechanics all feeling the same came after the decline in platformers. Well move from the rut since were in the Battle royal craze which was once a indie craze, and a moba craze and a hero shooter craze and a rpg craze and you get my point.

So loot boxes lead to kids gambling in real life...I guess that means violence in video games make kids violent? Someone get Jack Thompson on the line.

Does killing in video games give the same feeling as killing someone irl? Cause that is exactly what happens with loot boxes and gambling.

Well having not actually killed anyone in real life so I wouldn't know. But, I have been to a casino and it didn't feel like opening a virtual loot box to me.

It is not about opening the box. It is about the feeling you might get what you want and going "just 1 more" if you don't. Lootboxes ARE slot machines, the tiny difference is that you maybe get some spare change if you already got the item. Except that is there no difference.

Btw, none of this is something i actually care about myself. The big thing that bothers me is when it starts to affect gameplay. I never had issues with lootboxes before and didn't even think about it. I knew gameplay affecting boxes were in f2p mmo's, hence why i never touched them but in the last year especially they invaded games you already pay full price. Look how utterly broken Battlefront 2 was when they removed it and how it utterly breaks the Nemesis system in Shadows of War. And if the only reason to get back to were we were before is banning lootboxes entirely? Smash that hammer full swing!

Let's not forget that Billy Zane was also in the classic 1993 hit Sniper.

Skyrim? Who the F holds Skyrim up as some amazing piece of gaming history? The only thing it should be known for is how many ports they've made of it.

Being disappointed that God of War is getting high scores across the board because you don't feel it "moves forward" enough is a weird stance. Not wanting it to be thought of alongside Ocarina of Time and Skyrim just sounds oddly gatekeeper-y.

Heelys suck. I always wanted to clothesline people I saw rolling around on those shits. There was one kid in particular at my elementary school that was incredibly annoying with them. He thankfully got in trouble after awhile and wasn't allowed to wear them anymore.

Ben's story about the school newspaper posting a scandalous photo of the principal smoking is in my top 10 stories ever told on this podcast. Fucking beautiful.

"That's news, man."

Jan +110%! you rock! The game name at the bottom when they are talking is great!!!! keep that up please.

(i rewind a lot to find the game name dropped when i miss it sometimes, they usually say it once at the beginning of a segment, then talk a few minutes without saying it again, i have to go back probably once a podcast...)
