Holiday Specialtacular 2016: East Meets VR

It's great. But there's actually a lot of damn fine content for VR now.

Unfortunately, because of Oculus' exclusive gatekeeping bullshit, Vive owners have to jump through one more hoop to get access to all of it. If you have a Rift, Steam embraces you with open arms where as Vive users have to use a third party tool to use the Oculus store.

I love VR so much.. And I love Vinny's way of experimenting in games. What I'm getting at is.. GBeast needs a larger studio where Vinny can test drive VR games as they come out. I want to see his mind at work in these things. Never ceases to make me laugh.

Did they go to Mount Everest this time? Haven't had a chance to watch. I would love it if they went to the bookmarks on Google earth of the stuff that Google earth wants to show off. But thanks so much for doing this guys.I completely enjoy the VR stuff

Poor Vinny on Google Earth VR. Jeff doesn't bother to mention that there's a "comfort mode" which makes it easier on those more sensitive to motion.

I love Vinny's reaction to VR. It's so genuine and very different from the rest of GiantBomb.

It wasn't the motion that got Vinny. It was the heights. I had a very similar reaction in Batman Arkham VR at the beginning, when you're looking over the rail outside the Iceberg Lounge.

@nagafen I feel the same as you having tried google cardboard, GearVR and PSVR. For me VR needs to be in 8K for it to truly take off. Things just look too blurry and bad to me. In 8K with a killer app or 2 I think it would be massive.

Not their fault though, it's a cultural thing. There's no reason to learn about what's happening on the other side of the world as it doesn't effect the everyman American.

Vinny not wanting to step off the Staples Center roof was very amusing and endearing.

With all the stories that Jeff tells about his childhood and adolescence, makes me feel like my time growing up was incredibly boring and uneventful.

Vinny experiencing acrophobia in VR is something that I can imagine I'd feel too, but looking at it on a screen makes me think I'd never feel it. One day, when the prices become realistic I look forward to experiencing it (as much as one looks forward to VR acrophobia).

Poor Vinny, VR continues to traumatize him.
