I cannot tell how much was Jeff and Ben forgetting Star Wars lore and how much was them just trolling. Of course, really, what kind of loser would remember all that stuff and nitpick over the details, right? Heh heh. Ha ha. Ah. Yeah.

Soooooo... Just to clarify things. Jeff and Ben seem to be confusing the fan theory of Taller Luke with the fromerly canon Luuke Skywalker. Luuke is now canon to the Legends brand that covers what used to be known as the Expanded Universe. The Heir To The Empire trilogy had an evil Jedi who had cloned Luke. I believe the source was Luke's severed hand found in the depths of Cloud City. The cloned Luuke evenentually fought Luke. Meanwhile, Taller Luke was a crazy fan theory that made no sense. It was not a sensible story like the tale of Luuke was.

And.. just.. how can you canfuse classic trilogy character Wedge Antillies with Shadows Of The Empire character Dash Rengar? Dash is a great character, but does not hold the prominence of Wedge. Wedge not only was a stand out character in the films, but also a central figure in the Rogue Squaron games and comics and novels. Wedge is such a classic notable X-Wing pilot. He. Just. *breathes* Sorry. Just got a little dizzy like when I was watching Ben go through the jaggedy looking Death Star level at the end of Super Jedi.

(The truely sad thing is that I am actually more of a Star Trek fan and still could recall all that off the top of my head.)

I can get down with these 3 days being "DBZ" character days solely because it makes actual sense compared to shoe-horning Star Wars into May 4th, and people don't seem to take the thing too serious.

Braving that Death Star II escape was worth it for the true ending theme, Yub Nub.

It was much faster on PC, a lot more exhilarating, so if you played that version first and then played the N64 version, you'd be like "What the hell is this?"

I think the vast majority of people who've played that game have only played it on N64, though.

Except 8 is "hachi", 9 is "kyu" and 10 is "ju", so Go-hachi, Go-kyu and Go-ju doesn't really work. I guess that's not really worse than saying "May the Fourth" insead of "Force".

5 is Go, and 9 is Ku not Kyu. I don't know about the others but I just saw that floating around on Twitter. I don't really care about these goofy Holidays but if you're going to do it don't half-ass it like Star Wars does.

No, 9 is usually "kyuu"; "ku" is a variant. There are multiple ways to say certain Japanese numbers.

Super Star Wars was the game of the month for the SNES Reddit a while back, and everyone found out that while the presentation is terrific, the gameplay itself is bad. The game just relies on throwing 50,000 enemies at you without any regard to solid design.

I can hear what Ben is saying about the parallels with the ActRaiser soundtrack.

I played through all of Episode I Racer recently, that game is really good.

Am I the only one who has the Megamania ad jingle etched in their brain for freaking decades? Every time jeff says the word "Megamania", it takes like a week for it to go away.

Jeff is the only other person that seems to remember that game existing, but it doesn't stop him from mentioning it with more consistency than you might expect. Believe me, I would know. You all probably forget it was even mentioned after a minute, while I'm still sitting here going "Mega! megamania. Megamania! It's gonna drive you insane."

@benpack Were you looking at the buttons on the Xbox controller rather than considering the original SNES button layout when entering those cheat codes?

These games were so insanely hard. I tried so hard and never got close to finishing one.

I am pretty sure the codes were not working because of the buttons being flipped on the Xbox controller compared to the SNES controller.

Megamania was a great game for it's time.

In my mind, that was one of the first games that had most kids (that had PCs) asking their parents for 3D accelerators because it was required to run that game, but they were still so expensive that it was a hard sell compared to kid-friendly consoles that had hundreds of games or whatever games the PC could already run. I know this was what led me to push for a PC over a Mac when our LC series started chugging on 56K internet pages (we got a Gateway with Windows XP, it was a miserable five years, and I've been Apple ever since).

I had one friend with parents who sheltered and spoiled the hell out of him in equal measure so I had most of my high-end gaming PC adventures at his house and I remember the speed of Pod Racer feeling totally unnatural to me as a kid who thought stuff like Bubsy and Tom & Jerry on the SNES played and felt great. That still lingers with me today; The Last of Us just didn't look right at 60FPS, for example. I don't have a weirdly uncomfortable reaction to high framerates anymore, but if I've played a game at a lower framerate and then see it at a higher framerate, I almost invariably prefer the former unless it's utility in gameplay is obvious (like Sekiro, which I gave up on due to framerate and an older TV convincing me I just don't have the technology to execute the parry windows).
