Does Brad not remember that one of the camera options in GTA3 was overhead just like that first game? I remember it being really hard to play that way though.

This collection is such a colossal bummer. I just wonder how hard they even tried. I mean they didn't even bother to use a dualshock. Just feels like the bare minimum. i'm glad i have a lot of my fav ps1 games still.

GTA is an odd choice. I don't remember any popularity, critical acclaim or general reverence for that series until GTA3. On the PS1, it was this weird, bad, edgy arcade game. At least two had that neat dynamic lighting on Dreamcast/PC.

This machine feels soulless. If you want to have a historic reminder or nostalgic trip to the original, there is no way you can pass on Crash, Tomb Raider and Gran Turismo. Those were even the games in ads where it was like "Sony kicks Mario's ass!" This whole thing feels like a lazy cash grab. If you can't get the titles that defined the system, don't put it out. I hope N64 never happens for same reason.

Yea I quick cancelled my pre order. I think sony trying to cash in on this 'classic' fad will disappoint them

I'm with Brad - I also just don't really replay games. There have been very rare instances where I played the same game more than once all the way through. There is almost always something new to play and there is this weird guilt about playing the same thing again like I'm just wasting time.

Waited through that whole thing just to hear, "... if you, the master of un-locking..." and they quit out right before it was about to happen.

@max_cherry: especially for people that haven't touched the game since the 90's. I feel like it's standard for GB to not give FF7 the praise it's due.

I don't like it when the PS1 boot sound is broken up like that. It needs to play from start to finish every time with no interruptions.

That said, I can't wait to see these get out to the general public, and subsequently be cracked wide open.

Only made 5 GTA games Brad? Counting only Rockstar North there's 1, 2 , 3, 4, 5, Vice City, and San Andreas....so just a few more than 5..but with LCS, VCS, CTW it's more like 10 full games.

Jumping Flash is a game alright. Never seen that before. The PlayStation Classic just seems lazy overall. The mixture of 50hz and 60hz games, the weird game roster, it's such a bizarre product. This reminds me again how there should be remastered versions of MGS 1 thru 4 on PC. That'll never happen at the moment because Konami.

According to Digital Foundry, this thing is a total shit-show performance wise.

Sony have written a better emulator than this several times.

PSTV, PS Vita, and PS3 all have better quality emulation.

Faithful HD remake of RRT4 please, Namco. Preferred it to Gran Turismo 2. It was the racing game on consoles in the late 90s.

@afroofdoom: That may be due to them cheaping out on the hardware the emulator is running on, than any kind of actual issue with the emulator.

Yeah, just not seeing it. Too many legal ways to emulate a PS1 with a better selection of games for the same price or even cheaper.

I really just think of these Classic consoles as display items that just happen to be functional. I can't deny the appeal of the shells themselves, but as things to play... maybe for $50 I'd be more into them.

When SoulBlade came out, I thought it was a Battle Arena rip off. The characters are kinda similar still.

Also, it's not a Playstation without that dinosaur demo.

I graduated high school in 1998. In my computer programming class, we played games all the time and I played GTA constantly. So in my yearbook, someone wrote "Have a good one, and never stop playing GTA".

Robbit Mon Dieu was Jumping Flash 3, not 2. 2 Came out in north america and Robbit Mon Dieu was JPN only

As someone who has used both PCSX and Mednafen quite a bit, I don't see how emulation of PS1 on PS3 is better. Broadly equivalent, perhaps, but lacking many of the cool features you get with plugins and GPU hacks.

I'm curious what benefit you think there'd be to Sony rolling their own ARM-based emulator. Just to say they did it?

A) Holy fuck, I have got to find that IQ sequel. I can't believe I've never heard that mentioned by anyone before. For a second I thought Jeff was just talking about Detonator/Buile Baku

B) The Jumping Flash intro sounds like fucking Grant Macdonald. I don't know how I didn't realize this last time I played through.

C) I'm frankly stunned that Sony didn't fuck up the MGS box code.
