Tomba did not have analog support. It wasn't broken, you just had to turn off the analog button. Mystery solved!

I had this demo disc, and holy shit I need to go and play Tail Concerto. Regardless if it's good or not, I played that demo dozens of times and loved it as a kid. I forgot this existed.

I've never been a huge racing games fan, but man GT1 at the time was freakin beautiful! Of course Jeff has to take the oppurtunity to shit on that but whatever I still have awesome memories of that game to this day, not in the least the music.

This is the song during the Test Drive 5 segment. Fear Factory - Genetic Blueprint.

To this day one of fave remixes of metal songs. The remix was done by Junkie XL.

ok, so the video is not showing up so here is the link to the song on Youtube.

Jeez Ben. Stop screaming like that! Blew out my headphone son UPF that time with Gex and now just blew out my PC speakers. Really annoying. Next time I am sending a bill.

Phil Hartman didn't "pass away." I know you're using a euphemism, but something really bothers me about framing it this way.

I guess a dumb nit pick. Fun video.

Oh man, Monster Rancher! Hear me out- what if the crew were to play some Monster Rancher (I think 2 is best but probably due to personal bias/nostalgia) and only use demo disc for monster generation? What a weird series that can't really keep its core gimmick, the GBA one was a solid try but just not the same.

Can you guys put a huge limiter/pad on Ben or something? He clearly isn't going to stop screaming at the top of his lungs and it would be cool if I could listen to a video at a normal level without my ears getting blown out.

I have many fond memories of playing Gran Turismo when I was 9-10 and the process of learning to get good at the game, overcoming the license test challenges etc. Though, it ruined racing games for me because when I finally understood how the cars handled and how to drive them well enough to win everything without just crashing on every turn, it was an incredibly rewarding and fun experience.

So going back to more arcadey racing games after that they all just felt empty and unsatisfying and bland really. I wanted the thrill of the challenge, I wanted to work my way up gaining more and more money, buying and winning incredibly special and rare cares, it was fantastic.

It blew my mind as a child, it felt like a hundred hour RPG for cars (It wasn't really, but that's how I interpreted it)

So when I see people being like "I cant deal with those GT games" I'm like "But a kid can learn to play these games, it has a ton of depth and best of all it rewards you for accomplishments!" (GT1 also had a pretty good soundtrack)

I do not understand it, I guess it's kind of the same mentality as people who couldn't deal with Souls games, some people don't like the experience of being rewarded for working through something and doing well.

I can understand having different tastes and all, but I just don't understand this negativity people sometimes have towards games with a learning curve.

Seeing that Duke Nukem game reminded me of all the time I spent playing Duke Nukem: Zero Hour on the N64 back in the day. I'll be honest, I had a lot of fun with that game, although I'm not so sure it would be fun to go back to now.

FWIW, they already use pretty heavy compression and limiting, and Ben's scream isn't really any louder than the peaks in his normal voice. I usually hate screaming youtubers and things, but this doesn't bother me personally. The signal isn't anywhere near high enough to damage a speaker unless you're over-amping it, the reason it seems louder is because it's consistent.

I definitely feel ya! I probably put over 200 hours in on Gran Turismo 2. That game had so many cars and figuring out what races to grind to get the most credits to buy and upgrade the cars was so damn addictive.

I actually remember one morning I played for 6 hours to build up cash and my brother came through the room and unplugged the power on the console before I made a save. Pretty sure I broke a controller that day.

Jersey Devil formed a really foundational lesson for me as a very young gamer. I found myself at a game store choosing between Jersey Devil - a game I had seen many TV commercials for and thought looked rad - and Klonoa - a game that I had rented and played through the first couple of levels of and loved. I went with the game that had 3d graphics and an attitude, and I paid dearly for my hubris.

The only Gran Turismo games I played were 1 and 2, so its weird to hear Jeff say they weren't good. Not disputing that because I was like 9-10 when I played them and haven't gone back since, but they seemed great at the time.
