I wonder if the devs feel clever for adding cussing in almost every single spanish line so no one realizes what people are saying. It's not.

This game is fucking shit.

I was in the beta from last October and everyone was in agreement that the game wasn't ready for prime time. With that said, each month RTW rolled out a new update with sometimes 4GB worth of data that transformed the game a ton. They're already close to releasing the vehicle control and matchmaking revamp but APB is definitely a game that will continue to get better. I think that EA pushed this out of the door before RTW wanted it to. It's too bad this game is getting such a bad rap. They've tried something new and although it's not up to snuff because of the bugs I commend them for their efforts yet something like Crackdown 2 which is basically a mod for Crackdown 1 can still get decent reviews.

I dont mean to be rude, I own the game for 2 weeks now .. and that quick look and your obvious "meh" attitude, is only because you are "noobs" in the world :-)

Errr....
I get that if you can spawn vehicles they need to be removed, else God forbid you could find a car to get into, but the bit where those two disappeared in the parking garage was frakin hilarious.  I literally watched that five times in a row.  Nicely summed up by Jeff, "sigh."

What happened there was that the 2 cars that disappeared - the first one was a player vehicle, it despawned because the owner spawned it somewhere else.
The other one was part of Jeff's objective - as the mission was over, the car despawned. The third car, which was "not usable"  was because it was part of another player's mission... which I agree is confusing and non-intuitive for players.
Unfortunately, in a game where many of the objectives are to search cars, defuse bombs in cars, or steal cars, there needs to be cars that other players can't just run off with for gameplay  not to boil down to chasing down whatever player has run off with your car :P

However, typically, an experienced player will elect to use their own car, if possible - player vehicles tend to be superior in performance and/or better suited to the player's playstyle - as well as the player being more used to their own car's handling.
(Speaking of which, there was a Vehicle spawn point one floor beneath were those 2 cars disappeared - you can see it on the radar - it's the tiny grey car)

*shrug* I'd say the greatest problem the game has is how bad it is at intuitively explaining certain things to players (which makes the ame hard to get into for new players), even going as far as obfuscating some information.

Floaty boxes, disappearing cars, wonky car doors, a motion-sickness inducing camera, a lifeless world, this game has it all!  Always having to run all the way back to the action is a downer.  As it is today, this game seems to need a lot of work still to make it interesting.  Really, I'd rather play GTA or Saints Row than this.

Ha-ha, Jeff's character is a fire-crotch.

Really not cool, you guys do this all the time, you review games that you don't know much about.

Your using crappy cars from NPC's that have horrible handling and complaining.

Your joining missions with people way higher then you because you don't look at the symbols it shows you and complaining

I've never cooked before, cooking's too hard, NO ONE AT ALL SHOULD EVER COOK!

This game is amazing.

It seems like they have a ton of great ideas packed in, but just couldn't follow through on most of them. First of all, the payment plan is all wrong. If it had been free to play until the end of time after buying the game in store, I'd be more inclined to try it out. But knowing that there's a payment plan for a game that's not even an MMO seems silly. Especially considering how dead the world seems.

That's my other issue with it. It's just so.. bland. Gray environments, no interactive characters (at least in the quick look?), nothing to make you go "Holy shit!" about. Throw in some trees in there, maybe a neat looking skybox and some lighting effects and this would've looked a hell of a lot better GRAPHICALLY.

I can't speak for control as all I've seen from this game is this quick look, but it gives a fairly comprehensive idea of how it plays and so on. But the shooting doesn't seem intense or satisfying enough to make it worth the money you'd pay for it.

I think that if they had waited a little longer and tweaked some things, taken other things back to the drawing board at an early stage, this would  have been a much more exciting product, but as it stands now, it's not something I want to try.

@Azteck: Personally, I think Guildwars has spoiled people on these games (but then again, as far as I understand it, Guildwars outside of the towns only allows for very small groups (4v4 or something for the duration of an instance?) - while APB will put you in an instance with 80 other players whom you may be (kind of) matched against.
While I do see the comparison to Guildwars, I also see the similarity to other heavily instanced MMOs where you can't really interact with other players (City of Heroes, Champions Online, Star trek Online, to name the first 3 off of the top of my head) - and I've never see anyone question if those games are MMOs or have the right to charge a monthly fee (or lifetime subscription!).
But then again, playing World of Warcraft, I never had the need to reach out and kill a random player, so maybe I just don't get the "problem" some of you are having with seeing players but not being able to shoot them - personally, I think that it'd just turn into unstructured (and unplayable chaos) otherwise.

From my personal experience, I don't feel that the instances are empty - rather, action flows naturally around the instance as players are dispatched against one another. At times, you'll run into enormous piles (literally) of cars where some players are trying to be creative in defending objectives (this tends to be an attractive target for grenades though ;) ), other times you'll see massive firefights raging in the streets as other groups of players are fighting.
While at other times still, you'll be in parts of town where there hardly any (other) players.

Never really thought about it, but you are right, there isn't that much grass or trees in San Paro (though quite a few bushes), but the Financial District (which is where Jeff was playing) has a fairly large park, and the Waterfront District (another action district, more of a Marina/Docks - which Jeff didn't visit in the quick look), which has a bit more greenery spread out through the district.

As for combat-feel, I suppose it depends on your frame of reference and expectation - but yeah, APB is not CoD:Modern Warfare 2 or BF:Bad Company 2 - if you want to hit something with assault rifles, you either need to get close, or stop moving and actually aim - and as players can't take that much punishment, sitting in the open will get you either shot up, or run over, so you need to get cover, and you need to keep looking over your shoulder to avoid getting flanked.

Again, I'm not saying the game is perfect (far from it), I just feel that a lot of you are selling the game way short.

*shrug* I could go into more detail, but I feel that doing so would just add to the confusion :)

@blacklab: Thing is, this game crosses over from bad to pathetic.  It's not even worth a chuckle... It's just a bland, horrible, cynical game.  It's more sad to watch Jeff suffer than anything else.

Less than six years later the Division came out. The difference in world quality is crazy. Makes me look forward to the next gen.
