Quick Look: Calling Demo

I have to admit, when all those creepy dolls appeared, I actually jumped. While the rest of the game didn't look great, it was just a demo. I'll be interested in how the final product turns out.@TheBrainSquid said:

I have played the Japanese version of this game.  It is OK but I couldn't progress through this one section as you have to call a number while avoiding 3 ghosts.  Fuck dat.

I almost fell of my chair after they asked themselves is this game is about 4chan when the intro started.

Not feelin too excited about this one. Unless it pulls some crazy shit, I have a hard time understanding why it wasn't just a DS game. Seems that's a better venue for schlocky text-story driven horror.

Those controls would drive me nuts in moments.

So it's a cross between Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and The Grudge for the Wii, with a whole lot of The Ring thrown in for good measure. I'm not going to sell it short by saying they copied the mechanics of those games, because I don't know how long this game was in development for, nor anything else about its development cycle, but I will say that they must be pretty pissed that Shattered Memories shipped before they did. Not that it really would have made that much of a difference.

Like a lot of people in the comments, when those dolls appeared, I jumped. But other than that, this looks horrible.

Best quick look line in a while. The game itself however, looks like a more lame and less refined Silent Hill: SM.

 I was actually pretty scared at one point, but that's because I have a horrible phobia of dolls in real life, so they bother me even in games. 
 
Seems a bit dull for it to be a compelling survival horror though.  That said, I don't necessarily think they gave it a fair shake either, they seemed pretty set on making fun of it from the start. 
 
I admit, I probably couldn't get through it though.  I had to turn off Fatal Frame when I got to the doll room, so this would probably ruin me pretty fast.

It looks like the Wii is perfect for horror games,if Silent Hill is no indication for that.

Another half assed Wii game. Who knew!?

I jumped slightly when the dolls showed up in the crack in the door.. but that was pretty much all the exciting parts. That said. I hate survival-horror games, or horror games in general, so I'd never play this. That and it looks kinda.. ehh.

Gonna take a shot in the dark here. The little ghost girl entered the chat room under the name Kuroneko (means black cat which is the animal she was holding at the end) and everyone in the room will be drawn into some crazy house where she tries to trap them.... now I don't feel bad not playing the game.

this is PROOF that the Wii controls are not better or easier than a regular standard controller. Running away with the nunchuck or Wii remote is always clunky, Ryan would have done better with a ps3 or xbox controller guaranteed; and not just with this game - there are many games Ive played for Wii where moving with the Wii remote was plain dreadful. Plus there is no way my parents could remember all of those weird button and wiggle combination they kept throwing out there. Madworld prooved this to me as well, many times enemies had to be dumbed down or I missed them altogether where with a normal controler i would have had much more precise satisfying control..... I wish all Wii games would use the gamecube controller as well by default, the only cool thing on the remote is the tin can speaker if you ask me.... and that's a gimmick. Maybe Wii plus is better? But games don't support that!
