Hey, this seems to at least have a story!

I might get into this once they release all the expansions in a bundle. Seems like now wouldve been the time to get this game instead of at launch. I really came to destiny for a story. Seems theyve delivered on that at this point.

@daltimond: If you buy the new retail disc (the "Legendary Edition"), it's the base game and all three expansions bundled together for $60, which if you're upgrading from the base game is a savings of about $15 over buying the first expansion pass and TTK separately. I think the disc is still just the base game and then you just get a code for the expansions, so you could probably sell the disc afterwards for a few bucks back.

It's looking better than previous expansions, but £40 for this expansion is silly and greedy.

But oh well spent, my DLC money on the Witcher 3 expansion pass, and will probably not regret it in the slightest.

Plus, I can always wait till the next expansion where they probably include all the past DLC plus a new dance.

Destiny continues to be really good.

Edit: 10 mins in and after half-functional, gigantic iPods on the walls of the hub and Jeff reminding me that all of that quality of life shit should've been common sense to a huge studio like Bungie I don't really think I'll be giving Bungie any more money for this title.

For past players that stopped playing because of issues with how the game is structured the Taken King isn't really doing enough to come back.

For brand new players that plan on buying the GOTY version with all the expansions rolled into one for a fraction of the cost that the "Destiny pioneers" had to pay to get to this same point, it's probably the best time to see if this game is for you.

I was actually looking at this as a way to get me back into Destiny with some buddies. Haven't touched the game since probably February and when I went on PSN to try to purchase the expansion it says content unavailable for purchase. I thought there may be an issue on my end, but it seems as though you need to have both previous expansions to be able to get this? WTF is that?!? I guess Destiny will just continue to sit on my shelf.

I know I said it during the chat already, but if the first two expansions had gone on sale alongside this then I might have actually been on board. As it stands though, the final tally for three expansions is way too high, especially since you get no real price break for buying them together. Such a wasted opportunity to get more eyes and possible dollars. I should have expected as much though considering it's two of the greediest/arrogant names in gaming (Activision and Bungie, respectively).

Years from now, when they finally put the first damn DLCs on sale, I may be back.

@neozeon: There's totally a savings compared to if you were buying them all separately though.

For the record, your "old gear" can take you through the entire story and through p much all the old content (as the enemy levels are never high enough to negate your older gear).

The pricing structure for this release is totally fucked.

Nope, I was interested in this expansion too but you need the other two DLC to get it.

Did they get the collector's edition or something? I logged on today and I didn't get any of these items.

@efesell: How do you figure? I already own a digital version of destiny so the legendary and collector's editions would provide me a second copy I can't get rid of. The two first expansions are twenty dollars a piece (No savings). The first two bundled are only a five dollar savings ($34.99 vs $39.99) and because I don't own the first two expansions, I can't buy just the taken king by itself.

With the exception of the season pass, that was available at launch mind you, you save nothing. A year goes by and they couldn't even drop the first two ten bucks or something?

@libb: Can confirm, The Taken King disc is the exact same disc but with a code that unlocks the first two expansions and the taken king.

Man, every time I see Destiny I get sad about what it could have been, and the fact that if you want anything resembling story, you're going to have to plop down some serious cash, is all the more sad.

Like Jeff said, still seems like the same old Destiny for the most part but at least they are actually attempting to tell a story that has actual interesting characters unlike the main game so I guess that's a plus but definitely not worth the price point. Pass.

The cutscenes are very bombastic and almost evoke a Star Wars feeling. But once you realize what the actual gameplay is, and the lack of personality it offers, that feeling dissapears completely.

I really like the character design and UI, but when it boils down to a lootbased grindfest, it's dissapointing.

That tank at the end is totally the Covenant Tank from Halo.

As somebody whose only experience with Destiny has been the periodical GB videos, this game's skills/ranks/stats/levels/currencies seem like fucking greek to me.

The gameplay is and always has been phenomenal. And now the story is up to par as well so anyone complaining now is really just doing it to be negative for negativity sake.

And as easy as it is to boil things down to Run to place shoot and press square the missions and encounter design has continued to improve.

I went from 28.5 to 30.5 in a little over an hour tonight. The loot drops were nice to get (the hero tour) and I finally finished out Crota on TDB where I had stopped cold turkey when I burned out on this months ago. Now mostly through HoW. Remember playing it a lot last fall, feels pretty okay to be back into it again.

The bad guy in this is the same bad guy from Shadow the Hedgehog

I wish I could get into Destiny but whenever I play it, I feel only apathy and boredom. It's been like that since the beta and every other time I've tried it since. Not sure what it is.

I might've picked this up if it was $30 or something, but PSN wants me to spend $80 for all the expansions and what not soooo no.

I love how the first 15 minutes of Taken King is spent running circles around the Tower while Bungie apologizes to you for the game sucking so hard during the first year.

This expansion makes me want to play destiny again.

Before, I played it on 360, finished the main story and was done. I played like 34 hours and felt okay about the time I had spent with the game and traded it in. I'll always use the adage that I've never played a game that I enjoyed so much that so thoroughly disappointed me.

However, this plus the other DLC's looks like it fixes most of the problems with the game: addresses the lack of content and actually makes an interesting story with cool characters and expands on the lore a bit. I'm willing to give this a shot on the PS4 this time.

too little too late, for WAY too much money. sorry destiny but you can fuck off into the un-downloaded games section of my PS4 library. glad you guys who paid for this in advance are finally getting a real game, but also damn you all for buying season passes to begin with.

Jeff should really use R2 in the equip menu to compare and not "mouse over" like a noob. :(

Just don't understand the appeal. Looks beautiful but totally boring. Go here, shoot, go here shoot, cheesy cutscene, repeat ad nauseam. It seems from the outside looking in to be a bad version of Halo with some loot thrown in to appeal to people with an addictive personality like Brad.

I think I'll wait for Destiny 2
