I thought this had been an 3DS game at some point, that would have had some potential at least...

Sky Island dude got called out and admitted for ripping off Fez, and Fez was long in development before Sky Island. If you want to know good similar games, there is Crush and Echochrome.

I love how people talk about "ripping off" in video game design. These guys might have gotten their gimmick idea from Fez, but they pulled it off faster and for free then Fish could ;)

Ha, even they don't know what to do in this ''interesting'' game.

I've played some ten hours of this game now and it's pretty amazing. The platforming is good, but the thing that makes the game really great is the sense of exploration and figuring out how the world works. I'd really recommend at least giving it a try.

This game looks like a tech demo got infused with the charm of a platformer. It loses its old-school charm for it being so damn impressive. Also it isn't hard at all, so it loses even more appeal for that. A 3D puzzle game in the guise of a old-school 2D platformer? ...no offence, but I'll stick with Cave Story+.

I understand why this game had so much hype, but it doesn't really look like the kind of thing anyone would rush out and spend money on. I don't want to spend $10 on proof of concept demos just because they have an adorable protagonist and world.

Man.... Having played a lot of this game... I think it'll be hard to beat come GOTYs. Maybe Bioshock Infinite or Heart of the Swarm could do it, I dunno, but I'd say it does beat all of last year's games which says a lot. 
 
Fez is just a fantastic fucking game. You should play it.

I'm not going to connect my Xbox to the internet for this, because it's not worth downloading the new firmware with all the ads. However, I would probably buy it if it was on Steam.

For someone so critical of Japanese game development it's kind of weird that Fish spent five plus years plagiarizing Cave Story.

I liked the way this game looks and sounds, but the demo didn't hook me on the gameplay, even though it does have good controls.  It's like this really technically competent game minus the fun.

The comments to this quick look are extraordinary. People seem to be damning a game outright on the basis of a 20min quick look either because it "looks indie/pretentious/hipsterish" or because they think they don't like the guy that made it.

The anti-indie/hipster attitude is just anti-intellectualism. It's great to call out psudery or pretentiousness but it seems to have reached a point that people instantly react like bullies picking on the clever kid in class for liking poetry.

Secondly I can understand boycotting a product because you dislike the ethics of the person/company who made it, however it seems unutterably shallow to refuse a game just because you heard someone was rude on Twitter. As another poster pointed out, it seems a safe bet that the majority of people are just lazily taking this stance because it is the internet cause of the day much as the ME3 ending was a few weeks ago.

If you are not buying this game because you don't like the guy that made it I am assuming you also don't own anything by Apple, Nike, Coke etc because you fully investigate the background of everything you buy. If not, and this is the only thing you have boycotted recently, you should stop letting idiots on the internet make your purchasing decisions.

As for the game its pretty good, love the style and music and puzzles definitely get more interesting, Jeff was showing the very beggining of the game so its bound to be easy. Worth £8.50 of anyone's money.

Cool. This exact video thought experiment was great help to me when I wrote that Flatland-essay. Really helps out when I'm trying to explain some of the concepts involved, especially if there's a whiteboard at hand.

Looks awesome. I'm a fan of the retro-pixel on purpose graphics style (like Cave Story), So yeah, I Really like the the look of the game, a 3d game with pixel art graphics.

Probably buy this on Xbox along with Trials.
