Quick Look: Forza Motorsport 5

Needs a soundtrack like Forza 2.

I'm not sure if it'd ever really be Jeff's cup of tea, but I suspect both Vinny and Brad could really enjoy some Top Gear. Start with the first ever amphibious cars, then one of the earlier cheap car challenges, then the Africa special, maybe another cheap car challenge... I don't know, I reckon they'd like it.

EDIT: I get why they find it annoying, but I really enjoyed the Top Gear intro stuff--I suspect the majority of Forza's target audience would.

Dead Rising looks alright.

To me, the point of a driving sim is lost when exiting the cockpit view.
Sure, play it your way, but I don't understand it.
and bumper cam is really uncomfortable to look at.

That is how I've always raced in these console sims for years and years now. I only use cockpit view if I'm dicking around I guess as it just lowers your field of view and makes the engine sound more quiet. I also only use third person view for more arcadey racing games.

But glad they put cockpit views in the games as its definitely a big plus. It's just way easier for me to drive on bumper cam you can hit your apexes better and what not. Also gives a better sense of speed.

I'm sorry, but the monetisation in this game is gross. Everywhere you go the game is asking you for more money. It's a full price game with fewer cars and tracks than its predecessor and it's CONSTANTLY demanding more momey? That is flat out insulting. This shit need to be called out, LOUD, right now. It's a disgrace.

They actually they do have some races at night in real life.

OK so this looks pretty good even if Microsoft effed all us people that have expensive steering wheels already. Oh wait no Honda CRX? Hmm... WHAAAAT?!?! No Nürburgring?! FUCK THAT! Also they don't release the console here in Sweden until next year... I guess they just hate money... I'll be playing GT6 on my PS3 with my Fanatec wheel I guess. *bitter as fuck*

Well, the Kieth Haring-esque triangle zebra car was a pretty good pick, too.

@trafalgarlaw: You have to realise that the car modeling team would have been done with their part of them game months ago, so instead of laying them off or getting them to work on the next game they get to work on DLC cars. I would agree that they shouldn't release DLC day 1 because it just looks bad. The microtransaction are for people who value their time more than the regular consumer, they want to unlock cars faster because they might not play as often as the average consumer, these type of microtransactions don't affect you other than there being more menu options.

well uh..... I do feel like Giantbomb played the game how I would have, stopped looked at crowds, crashed into one another in split screen but man this looks really really really really boring compared to past Forza games. Like reminds me first time seeing Gran Turismo on PS1.

Man Vinny really associates the power icon with Macs. He's mentioned that once before and I don't think he realized it's a general icon.

@bigsmoke77: well as you saw, at one point, there were two separate buttons on the screen that took you to the microtransactions, thats like spam.

you describe how micro-transactions can be used in a tasteful way.Another way to do it is to make the game extra grindy, so that you only get the game the way it is supposed to be played, by popping all the power ups that you can buy constantly. ( if you know what i'm saying )

Not saying forza does either way, but im saying the possibility is there, if micro transactions are there.

Not related to the game, but the triangle/geometric paintjobs on unannounced vehicle models that Patrick was talking about actually go as far back as WWI. It's called dazzle camouflage and it works in the same way; by breaking up the contour of a ship so that the enemy couldn't determine the direction and speed of a ship. I think Drew might have mentioned it in one of his naval combat sims.

I didn't know dazzle camouflage was still in use. By far one of the weirder chapters in military history.

@seikenfreak: I understand the frustration but this is what GB does, I mean have you ever seen any of the sports quick looks. If it were possible this whole Quick look would have been racing the pickup at night in the snow against a bug and a bunch of supercars and F1 cars but it would still be hilarious.

So just use the quick look as enterainment and use the wiki and review for serious info.

I consider most of the content here just entertainment and they are damn good at that .

Oh my god, won't these guys shut the fuck up and let the game sounds be heard? No one talks over Jeremy Clarkson.

All this Turn10 talk about how they accurately simulate paint, using base, flake and clear coats, yet ingame the quality of the paint is nowhere close to how it looks in the garage menu.

I wonder if Jeff was paired with Driveretards of equal skills, which might explain the bumping ,waving and overall lack of racing skills from opponents.

Forza 1 menu music was covers of classic hard rock songs, without lyrics, kinda like Rock 'n Roll Racing. Forza 2 had some sort of techno rock. 3 and 4 copied Mass Effect music. Now this is just plain God of War generic grandiose orchestra BS and it's sad.

What are you talking about? Most of the cars are DLC-only, not by unlocks. Oh yes, they DO affect people by having less cars in the base game, only to be taken out to sell as DLC. It's like buying jeans and having to pay up extra for the zipper or button.

With all that lucrative Microsoft funding, they can't give out free DLC for people already coughing up $60? Bullshit, they tested the waters with Horizon and knew they could charge double that. Fuck employees, buying videogames isn't charity. If I pay $60, I expect it to be a full experience.

I don't give a flying fuck about car games, but dem cars sho do look mighty nice. Too bad GT6 is coming out on PS3 for whatever reason - would've been a good answer to this game from the PS4.

Also, microtransactions for a full priced retail name will never stop being disgusting. That shit needs to stop.
