Quick Look: Grand Theft Auto V (PS4)

Now I want this in Saints Row. Would be amazing to play that game as an FPS.

I'm glad people are getting a lot out of GTA V, but I will continue to hold a negative opinion on its mission design.

Regardless of how nice this looks I really don't want to play the majority of the missions. I don't think the car conversations are super entertaining and half the time they stop talking before you reach the place so you are just driving in silence. The thing that made me stop playing this game was a mission where you have to literally just point a helicopter camera at a car for over 10 minutes.

I didn't play this on PS3, so I'm totally ready to get my hands on this tomorrow!

@castiel: I dont think most people would want to pay another $60 for a game they played in the past year or so either. For myself, I'm in the rather unique position of having owned a 360 last gen and not having played GTA 5, so the holiday bundle with GTA 5 and TLOU remastered for the price of only the console makes this stuff all pretty awesome for me!

About to start the QL but my first impression is I'm going to need a VinCo GBEast Playdate video of this game.

You know, watching brad just walk around in first person reminds me of skyrim. And it makes me just want to just sit down and explore the whole city in first person and seeing what I can find. Man, can't wait for this to come to PC!

I may have to watch this a second time, it was difficult to focus on what Brad and Dan where talking about over the heavily dialogued sections of the game that was being played.

While aspects of GTAV seem really cool, I HATE the characters. Anytime anyone opens their mouth, I just want them all to die because of what horrible people they are. Completely turns me off to the entire experience.

However, they certainly did a great job technically with this release.

Trevor is one of the best characters, in general.

Maybe it's the video compression, but this doesn't look that much better than the old-gen versions to me. That first person view looks super rad though. I would buy the game again just for that.

There's a mod out there for SR4 on PC. It's not perfect but it's pretty cool.

Yeah it should have "(PS4)" at the end of the title like they've done with 2nd QLs of other games ex. "The Witcher 2(360)". @unastrike

Feel you on that one. I know I'll have such a better time with 60 frames and higher resolution with AA on PC but watching this is making me want to jump the gun ahead of the PC release. Must. Resist.

A year later, I still play GTA Online. I can't wait to get this on PC and bring my character over. I'm hoping to see all the 1st person camera and high quality visuals through the eyes of a level 100 character, see some of my custom cars I have decked out in first person and maybe do a heist!

And I just want to say thanks to whoever initially organized the Giant Bomb and GiantBombPS3 crews. I'm still rocking the giant bomb logo on most of my cars and leather jackets and it feels so RIGHT.

So this was quite a strange feeling that I've never experienced before - when Brad starting driving in first person around 39 minutes in, his ignoring traffic laws (as one obviously would) actually made me kind of nervous/anxious as though I was in the car. It's impressive that the game has reached the level of fidelity necessary to trigger that response.

That feels like a Rockstar problem to me. I feel like their characters always are either empty ciphers who just do whatever they're provoked to do, or total useless assholes. It tends to make me stop before completing their games.

Hell, they even made me not really care about Max Payne in 3.

I was hoping Jeff would be playing, but whatever. Cool! I borrowed this game from my brother a couple days after release, and did nearly everything. It came with some disappointments, but overall I still thought it was superb. I will be buying this.

The dog incident is right up there with this legendary moment:

Yep, I totally agree. One of the reasons why I don't like the company's games. It's a shame, because I do respect how good they are in other areas.

Wow, I try not to complain but man, hand Dan the controller! That driving during the mission was brutal to watch.

For anyone reading this Target (With Mobile Stores inside) are doing a trade in for the 360-PS3 versions of the game, 30 bucks off the new version I am going to do that tomorrow. US only.

No wonder Brad never finished the game on the last gen consoles, driving like that and avoiding hitting other cars/people would take a lot of time. I need a video halfway between Brad's Old Lady only on a Sunday driving a Buick gameplay style and Danny's ADD let's go play golf... oh let's kill everything along the way distraction. Danny did manage to complete some of the things he was looking to do.

I was also a bit surprised that Brad didn't get into the 1st person stuff all that much, seems like a huge draw for anyone wanting to come back to the game. Improved graphics are one thing but if that was what you wanted after playing on the 360/PS3 you could have gotten it on the PC no?

I think I'll just wait for the PC version. I never finished this game so I'd like to try and do that with it looking better.

Yep, I still can't stand Trevor on multiple levels. Even the voice acting annoys me.

Also, what is so wrong with throwing out numbers from that fact sheet, Brad? The biggest change they made to the game was the visual upgrade. So, by all means, tell us what the numbers mean.

There's a field of view slider in the settings so you can control that to some extent. At least while on foot.

The way Brad was steering that ATV at the beginning was making me sick.

Damn it looks good, i'll wait for the PC version though, combine this with Enb and ice mods it would look gorgeous.

I'm super disappointed Brad didn't drive through a crowded sidewalk in first person.

Let's be honest the only version to bother worth getting is the PC and that's because of the mods that will be released.

The original bricked my 360 right after the tutorial mission. I was pretty bent over it. But, now, it seems like it'll be well worth the grief.

I'm definitely waiting for the PC version. Plenty of games to play now.

this game sure does look good. Kind of got tired of listening to Trevor. Guy is fucked up. hate to choose sides but I cheered when Trevor bought it. I guess the Lost don't forgive.

I was surprised at their lack of knowledge about this game, and preparation of what they wanted to do in the quick look. Disappointing.
