This looks fun. Smash TV meets Gauntlet.

I'm not a fan of rice in a burrito. As a half mexican I feel like my opinion cannot be questioned by anyone other then a full mexican.

I feel like listing Taco Bell as a number one Mexican food place in an area where great Mexican food is abundant, like California, should be a punishable state offense.

@danryckert: I just got back from Okinawa visiting my bro. We went to one of those places. Had the small grill right in the middle of the table and we threw on the pre cut meats. It was yummy. Very popular there with all the US bases.

Saying crawfish is "fancy" is the new oddest thing I've ever heard.

I know some hillbillys in my family that would probably be flattered that you'd say that, though.

Great quick look btw =)

Sorta offtopic, sorry, but there's an A.V. Club blurb about last week's Bombcast. (The bathtub chicken one.) They didn't seem that impressed. Also, seeing the favorable outlook on Dan in this thread, I would advise to not read the comments on the AV article. They DO NOT like Dan at all.

Mmmmm... crawfish... If you find eating crawfish to be too much labor for too little payoff, you're doing it wrong. Also, if you're eating crawfish in California, you're doing it wrong! LOL. Come to New Orleans and experience a REAL crawfish boil with Louisiana crawfish, not that Chinese crap. Goddamnit... now I want beer and crawfish.

I would say they hardly qualify. I went over to the article in question's comments and it's nothing to be impressed by. Maybe one person, of the people that posted to be fair, was reasonable in a thread who have no more value than any other person throwing shade on the internet.

@n00bs7ay3r: I should apparently, you don't need to do something to critique it, especially when it's common knowledge.

Maybe it's a cultural thing, in America is fast food actually considered a normal healthy diet? I always thought it was something people ate only when they had to eat...well, fast. At the sacrifice of price, taste, and health. Not more than once or twice a month.

Or is Dan just very successfully trolling me?

@addfwyn: It is something that people should eat sparingly, but a combination of laziness and a heavy daily workload means that most people end up sacrificing quality for crap. Unfortunately, Dan does not appear to be trolling. I have nothing against a person making those nutrition choices themselves, but to continually and loudly proclaim the awesomeness of low quality, low nutrition food that's mostly composed of sugar and salt (fake sugar and bleached salt, at that) is a little disheartening.

It's quite easy to not eat fast food, I probably only go out to eat once or twice a year. It's cheaper to buy stuff and cook it yourself, plus you get the benefit of knowing how your food is prepared. Most people don't need to eat as much as they do, either; with proper nutrition, a person needs to cram a lot less crap in their mouth because they're getting more out of every bite when it's fruit and vegetables and not sugar and salt.

Despite Dan giving the appearance of being a "special" individual, his attitudes are unfortunately all too common and some of those beliefs are why over a third of the people in this country are obese.

I'm with you man. I rarely eat McDonald's because I think their food is terrible. I'd much rather go to Wendy's or BK for my fast food burger but prefer Five Guys over all of them.

I've never had In-and-Out but my mom has and she says she wasn't impressed with it and thought Five Guys was way better.

Dan really needs to stop using "fancy" as an insult, especially when he is stretching the definition of the word for miles.

Also, Burger King here is better value than Mc Donald's these days, so I always go for them.

Hey Dan, would you use these at your restaurant? You could call it Mommy's.

I feel like he'd be against them for promoting planes as a way of safe travel, rather than a metal death trap. Or something equally insane and ignorant. I remember reading that Ron Jeremy doesn't "believe in luggage" and travels with Glad bags, which sounds like something Dan would do.

When making fun of Brad I feel brad bad, but when making fun of Dan I can't because he himself doesn't give a shit.

I'm so sick of the term Rogue-Like. We don't call all shooters doom-likes. Hardly anyone's even played the game that's being referenced by that title. We need a legitimate name for this genre god damn it.

@luck702: There is. It's "dual-joystick shooter", just like Spelunky is a platformer and the Binding of Isaac is also a dual-joystick shooter. The fact that ignorant game journalists lump these wildly different games together under the banner of a (real, legitimate, and obscure) genre that these games all only borrow elements from is irrelevant. Roguelikes are an actual genre that have significantly more in common than simply the "randomization and permanent death" that the likes of Brad love to parrot ad nauseam. Roguelikes are grid-based, tile-based, turn-based RPGs. Recent games in the genre include Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, Tales of Maj'Eyal, Brogue, and Dungeons of Dredmor. They don't get covered because they're mostly old and rarely commercial, with the obvious exception of Dredmor, because it was on Steam and cost money.

Just because journalists throw around genres that they neither know of nor respect doesn't mean that these games you've never heard of don't exist. It doesn't mean the lazy appropriation of misleading terminology is correct.

It's also the reason why the indie developers who make roguelike-inspired dual-joystick shooters and platformers are very careful to call their games what they are. I believe the Rogue Legacy guys coined rogue-lite for this very reason.

@mdnthrvst: I just think we need to finally give it a name that doesn't compare it to something else. Simply comparing a game to another with a genre name like that does a disservice to the game in question. It implies non-originality when the game just fits into a genre like any other. Also, there is no other genre we do that to.

My solution? We gather together a united federation of games-men and women. Together, games journalists and developers will finally find a suitable replacement for the term rogue-like once and for all.

Not strictly steak I guess, but you should see if there's a churrascaria near you.

In most of those meat waiters will come along with cuts of meat and slice off pieces right on your plate for you, and they keep coming until you tell them you don't want any more meat. It's pretty great.

This game is quite good. It's a shame that a mediocre player like me gets to position 35 on the leaderboards. There should be a lot more players to bump me out of there.

If you liked Smash TV, Crimsonland or even Rogue Legacy, give this a try.

The game is short and starts a little slow, but once you've leveled up the game shifts to a high score game.

O Dan, you and your ignorance is bliss approach to food and the questioning of anyone who doesn't exclusively live on processed fats, sugars and salts as being "fancy". I feel like there is some sort of Alien abduction/Coma/Time travel story straight from the 90's we are missing here. We all changed Dan, but you are keeping the 90's alive somehow with your eternal optimism and unwavering patriotism. I salute you.

I love this comment. I couldn't put a finger on why I liked Dan so much. I just kept saying to myself, "He's from the Midwest... like me," but that felt lacking. I think you nailed it. Dan is the man.
