The actress who plays your rival in the first section - isn't that Naomi from The Expanse?

That was my first thought as well! It seems that Dominique Tipper (who plays Naomi) voices the character. Speaking of The Expanse I think the next book is set to come out December 5th!

As with most car game quick looks, this just makes me want to go play Burnout Paradise.

Disappointed that they didn't show the intro like Jeff said he wanted to on the Bombcast/XboneX stream. I was looking forward to hearing them crack wise over it, and see just how bad it is at the same time.

This game looks like the sad handjob of the racing genre.

At 41 minutes there are some of the lowest poly rocks I've seen in a game in a decade (at least, a game that wasn't going for a specific low poly or retro aesthetic). I have to wonder if there's more of that any time you go even slightly off the road.

When did the standards for storytelling and voice acting in a racing game become so high? What better precedent is there to judge it by? Every racing game I've played that's had a story, it always ultimately just boils down to background chatter. I find it hard to emotionally invest in any narrative where the conflict is always resolved by racing.

This doesn't look that bad to me. I don't know, with certain games I get the impression that sometimes Jeff does kind of go in with a pre-determined opinion of it based on marketing (or lack thereof) and his prophecies are self-fulling. Not entirely unlike a lot of consumers in that regard...

Hey everyone, I crush it.

This video is hilarious.

First thing to do in this game is disable the music, woof.

Said it before, but I'll say it again. I'd rather put up with an aggressive DLC strategy like in Crusader Kings 2 or Total War than deal with loot boxes for a game that I'll probably play through once.

That voice acting is making me grit my teeth. The tone, inflection, just everything about it. Ugh. It's so douchey. If the rest of the game were really good but still had that I don't think I could bring myself to buy it. Unless I could turn that shit off.

I can't ever get behind the writing in games like this, it's so lame and pure cheese. But takes itself way too seriously. How am I supposed to enjoy characters that think they're so rad and sick and keep repeating "that's what I'm talking about". Driving games like this should focus on the driving rather than some try-hard 'payback' missions, it's just so lame.
