Quick Look: NFL Blitz

Everything about this game has screamed "SCAM" to me from the time it was announced, and this comes from someone who buys Call of Duty every year.

Ugh. You know, the thing is these guys, specifically Jeff, have complained about people complaining about things that have changed. Remember the Fight Night thumbstick fighting? People freaked out and Jeff called them out. Now that they've made Blitz different then what it was before Jeff is freaking out. I just...I don't know. He sounds a little like a hypocrite.

The only Blitz I played was 2000. Is there a fundamental difference between 2000 and 99? Seems like 99 is the revered one.

I loved the original blitz, but I'm having a really hard time differentiating this new blitz from Madden, and god do I hate Madden. I want murder and mayhem on that field. This game feels boring, bland, generic and its putting me to sleep.

I definitely noticed that. I think he was either excited to be back, or a little out of whack due to his vaca. Probably a combination.

Do we? I've never seen a Madden game in store, maybe a used copy at Gamestop every now and then, but even that is quite rare. I guess american football might be more popular in other EU countries than in Sweden though. Then of course, my active disinterest in sports might just have resulted in me not looking hard enough, maybe people even watch sports like this on TV.

The fact this isn't available in the UK is bumming me out. I don't know enough about, or have the time to get good in Madden, but much like NBA Jam this looks arcadey enough for me to play and when my brother and the nephews are around.

This looks as boring as a proper NFL game. Not whacky enough.

But he often admits that he is being a crazy person being that nit-picky and that he isn't the target audience.

It really is a shame about the late hits and such and they will be missed, but you get used to it. The gameplay is still solid Blitz which is what really matters, and the gameplay changes they've made don't feel dumb once you get the hang of them.

Saying there's nothing crazy about this game is over shooting it though. Sure it is a bit muted compared to the old ones, but I just lost an online game to a guy that threw nearly a full field pass for a touchdown because I was too stupid to cover the dude.

Along with guys still catching on fire, pretty awesome celebrations, the surprisingly rough after play animations you'll see, and the insane hits that can come about from defenders flying headfirst 20 yards, I'd say this game has still got plenty of crazy left in it. Especially compared to your normal football game (I have NEVER been a Madden fan, or a football fan in general).

I never played Blitz on Jeff's level, but I played the fuck out of Blitz. It can be a bit of a transition, but after spending a lot of time with this one, about the only things I could ask for are late hits and a bit more spunk to the fire. The more I play it the more I'm enjoying it.

I feel like there's no point in rebooting something unless your going to change it a bit, and I also feel like EA nailed this is good as the NFL allowed them to. It's good shit and really fun.

happy to see its xbla/psn and not full retail. with the nba jam coming out LAST YEAR at full price, its nice to see that put out a downloadable version instead of throwing it out at full price and then at dl price for less. also i have some drank in me

It makes me very happy to see Jeff pick the Lions, even if there is no reason behind the choice at all.

I'm going to get this game.

TV10 sends NFL. Webhallen and Gamestop usually have Madden.

I hope the person who beat Jeff online at Blitz realizes what they managed to achieve. I'm not surprised Jeff isn't impressed with this. It doesn't seem crazy enough.

Hell Yeah Broncos! This does look pretty fun, I used to love Blitz. Madden has gotten pretty boring in my opinion, but going back to the quick style seems like a lot of fun.

Guys, it's an EA game. The late hits DLC pack will be available week 2 for $15.

I never played Blitz, but, I think this game doesn't look all that great.

The most vivid thing I remember about Blitz was making like, 5 guys just elbow-drop downed players after a play.

Also, running on fire while a guy tried to take me down by holding onto my legs.
