@jakob187:

This IS Punch out. Go back and play the original, and you'll realize that this is what the game is all about. Also, these first fighters are supposed to be easy, that's just how it is. I don't think you need a quick look to tell you that the latter part of the game will get significantly harder, that's a pretty standard practice in, you know, all games. If you really 'hoped' your statements were wrong (which they probably are) then you wouldn't have made them in the first place.

The glass is half full, not half empty. Start looking at it that way, and don't use the 'I hope I'm wrong' statement at the beginning of your comments to try and justify a purely pessimistic outlook.

@Renegade: Given the Wii's penchant for dumbing shit down, I feel more than justified in having some concern and doubt.  Good reviews definitely perk me up a bit, but nonetheless, something just feels...off.

Also, I'm glad that you see the glass as half full.  I personally don't see the glass as half full or half empty.  It's just a glass of water, so I'll drink it and decide whether it's refreshing afterwards.  Beforehand, though, I can still look at that glass and make some assumptions about what I'll be drinking.  There is no crime in that.

Sooo...LIKE I SAID...I'm going to give the game some play time, because it's fucking Punch-Out!!!  However, as of right now, based on the footage I've seen from this Quick Look and other places...I'm still not impressed.  I hope the actual game changes that around for me.

I never played a Punch-Out game before, and I generally dislike boxing games, but this looks awesome.

I'm pretty sure Von Kaiser kept saying "Bollocks" when Jeff was clicking on him.

@ValiantGoat: Nintendothemselves have said in a statement that they are intentionally delaying releases for the "Hardcore Gamer" to keep them interested. With stuff like Punch Out, its works out o-so-well for them in two ways. First of all, they already have the licence for it, which means that they can reduce costs in R+D, staff, and other areas of the design team. The second part (and where i treally sweetens the deal) is they get to stick a big fat price tag on there for a game they spent half the time on. The rest of the money either goes into the wallets with all the other millons from sales of Wii Fit and the other trash piece of software they have the nerve to call games, or into the advertising campaign, so even more sales!. Just so you don't have a go, iv had a Wii since launch, last game worth buying that i DID end up buying was SBB which i imported from the old US of A (launch was delayed in UK for a while). Ol' ninty didn't like this one bit and firmware blocked the disk i was using to play Brawl with. Haven't touched my Wii Since.

Boring & shallow...  Just like Nintendo.  I'm guessing all the good reviews will be based on nostalgia.

I haven't; The original was before my time. I suppose I can see how people would have nostalgia for it now, but as an outsider, I have trouble understanding the excitement. xD

Wow, I'm kinda sold on this now. Controls look as tight as on NES. Also, can we call this Best-Animated Game of the Year; the character movement and subtle facial cues are beautiful.

It looks like it should be a reasonably priced downloadable game. Not a full retail game....There just doesn't seem to be that much in it.

I really feel like the game title deserved a third exclamation point.
