I have never played Puzzle quest before but couldn't he have just kept Enrage for Extra turn after Extra turn?
I saw that it was random placement but it seemed every time to get a 4 of a kind, plus any extra Skull/Gem breaks refill the other colors and do damage.

Man, I don't like the new art style of the characters, but the new gems and skulls are even worse. I also don't care for this dungeon stuff--I prefer just the straight-up map. This game is bumming me out.

The A.I. straight-up cheated at times in the first game. Some creatures had certain spell sets that allowed them over 15 turns in a row, leaving me staring slack-jawed at my computer for over half a minute at the ridiculous turns they could pull.

I always went back and forth on this.  On the one hand certain combos and cascades the A.I. got combined with their movesets made them able to kill me as I stood by helpless.  On the other hand I occasionally got the lucky set of cascades and moves that made me kill enemies at will without them being able to respond.  So it could all be luck of the draw.  But damn if it isn't annoying when it happens to me.

Curious to see how it's going to look on XBLA version, sounds like they are doing some interesting ways to improve the game. Love the idea of the grabbing loot & picking locks with the puzzle quest game style.

I don't think I can play more Puzzle Quest. I played through the DS one twice, then I played through it on PC and then on the iPhone.
At some point you just get quested out I think.

@Skooky: Neither did I till I saw the crafting system, builds, stats distribution and saw that even though it's a glorified version of Bejeweled it does a good job making it a bit deeper. the DS/PSP are maybe the best version(s). Playing it on XBLA or PSN doesn't make sense to me but playing it on a long trip, bus or plane ride make the time go by a lot quicker..

I find it ironic that the guy making a big deal over the comments section of a puzzle game on a niche video games website is telling me to get a life. I'm so sorry I ruined your experience on Giant Bomb, I won't ever attempt to do a quest again...which I thought was part of the experience on Giant Bomb.

I've never played a PQ game but after this quicklook I am already hooked. I wish I never gave my DS away now. This game looks like the perfect bus/bed game.
