Man, I clearly missed out a chunk on SMB3 given I played that on the NES, look at the colours!!!

Watching their SMB3 play is driving me CRAAAZY.  GO FASTER!

I tend to agree with Ryan on this. I love Mario 2 for it's craziness and Mario 3 for just being a damn good Mario game. I've played World and it's good, but I just don't have the same kinda nostalgia for it, cuz we never had a SNES when we were kids.

You know what? Fuck, I'm gonna find a way to play SMB3 again despite not owning a Wii. I never beat it and yet it is still one of my absolute favorite games of all time. That travesty cannot stand.

Super Mario World Endurance Run! I'm calling it.

I still cant play lost levels to me its not mario. I remember getting all-stars for just 1&3 I already owned world.

8-bit versions of 1, 2, 3, and Lost Levels have been released on VC.  So has World. 
 
They released this on disc because in Nintendo's minds there'd be no reason to put this on VC when you can get everything else separately.  No World on this package, because World will cost you $8 more.  They're squeezing for money like all companies do.
 
And to anyone complaining about the $30 price tag, Jeff and otherwise, the 8-bit versions will all go for $21 on VC; asking $8 for All-Stars is a big fuck-you to anyone who's kept up.  This leaves you with a soundtrack CD and art book for $9, which is a fine deal.  Any whining about the pricing scheme is simply internet anonymity blabbering without the motivation to do the most simple Wikipedia research.

There was actually a SMAS+World Cart. The title screen was even changed to add Yoshi.

Frakes Curse!

Man, I haven't played these since they first came out and it scares me how well I remember them, the placement of items and everything.

Why isn't this a QL throwback?

I love the Giant Bomb crew the most when they talk and reminisce about old games like this, which is why I really want to see more Quick Look Throwbacks. Make it happen, guys!

I wish Brad was in a video game, just so I could transform into him and make that "OH...!" noise he made in the Pac-Man CE DX Quick Look. Possibly because of all the retsupurae flashback this is giving me (BillyMC, "nothin' but Luigi, motherfucker!").

I think that All-Stars title screen sums up my childhood pretty good.

It's like Super Mario is programmed into our DNA. Most people still remember the location of that mushroom or how to get to the warp zone etc. And the thing is I can't remember ever learning about it. For as long as I can remember I've just known all that stuff. In fact I don't think that I've ever played through Mario 1 without going to the warp zone or Mario 3 without using the flutes.

Lost Levels was just evil. It's like they were mad that everyone beat Super Mario Bros and so decided to make something that would be nearly impossible to beat. Of course, Super Mario was easy to beat, I used to run through the game using the warps in one life in less than ten minutes.

They should have handed Brad the controller just for Lost Levels, to add another game to the list.

This zazzy performance needs more zazz.  Also, less sucking from the GB crew would be nice.  Also, they should've put out All-Stars & World.
