I've been curious about seeing this game.

I'm really feeling this Xenocross Quick Look.

Just finishing The Witcher 3 and it looks like it will be just in time to get sucked into another world.

Ok, I'm not a huge fan of Wii U as a system and mine mainly collected dust for the last 3 years before Mario Maker came along. And I was very skeptical of the way some Nintendo fans were painting this game as the second coming of Christ, but this game looks pretty fucking awesome. Sold.

Can 8-4 just hire Vinny to do VO on the side?

The jumping was one of the most noticeable stiff/bad parts of Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii. Seems like they felt the same and really changed that.

First game I've worked on that's appeared on GiantBomb!

So glad Austin took this beast of a game upon him, so we could get some actual coverage, instead of the SF guys stumbling about for half an hour and discarding the game.

The sheer scale of the environments is so fucking awesome.

Also, does anyone know if you preload do you have to download that 10 gig Xenoblade file? If you have the disc is it unnecessary?

@afterland: The data packs are essentially parts of the game that you install on your hd so they're already in the digital version. They're only for owners of the physical copy.

I'm disappointed that Austin didn't show off his sweet Blade apartment so we could check out his holo-figs and some Skell customization. You can basically color every part of your mechs however you want with rgb sliders.

Sad beyond words that its only on Wii U.

I really dislike that they went back to Kunihiko Tanaka for the character designs but this game has mechs. Mechs!

Saddly, 1 is not enough.

That and, while I did get a Wii late in life (when the original one of these came out)..I've spent a sum total of about 30 minutes with it cause other things took precedence and its such a massive time investment.

I'd like to say, give it a few years, I'll pick a WiiU and this up when they +2-3 games worth playing for the system are 200$ total..but its Nintendo, so the games never go down in price..and if its anything like this one, where gamestop continues to tell me my copy of xenoblade is worth 30-40$ trade in value...hmm.

So all of that said. Someone spoil something for me. This isn't, really, part of the Xeno..gears/saga series right? I mean similar themes, but not official "set in the same universe"? That's what I heard about the first game. (Due to copy-write, not story spoilers to say this I think) And, while I adored the universe from the other two series, this not really being a part of it is half the reason I've not found time to plug my wii back in.

This game is so anime my heart is screaming at me to buy it! I need that sweet mech goodness.

Maybe me but the spells looks less flashy compared to Xenoblade Chronicles.

Hey now, Jason would have at least given this game an hour to an hour and ten minutes of coverage before letting out a sigh and stating how he doesn't have time in his life right now to tackle this game with a newborn and all.

I really wish I had more reasons than this game to get a WiiU. I mean, I'd probably enjoy Bayonetta 2 and a handful of other things, but this is the only game that has me excited.

And honestly, half of my interest in this game is the soundtrack by Sawano Hiroyuki, which didn't require me to shell out a few hundred €.

@dastardry: Had to look that up and while that might be nice it does sadly confirm what I remember. Seems like Square holds the copyright so at best these games are homages and 'in the spirit of". Which just isn't the same thing for me. A potential repeating/call back of old themes, not exploring and expanding int new ones.

I admit I might be wrong about that! 30 mins of a 100 hour game as I said just..that's what my gut tells me, which is what I need to kick in to get me to commit to those 100 hours.

The scale of this game is so goddamn intense

I feel as a wii u owner i have an obligation to get this, but it will take me awhile to play it. Feel like i can't do it in good conscience with witcher 3 and mgsv still largely unfinished.

Looks like Dragon Age Inquisition only worse because of the anime stuff. Next.

FYI there is a button which will shoot a light arrow out pointing to where your nearest quest enemy or item can be found if you don't know where to go for the current mission.

Edit - I looked it up and it's called the 'Follow Ball' ('Nav Ball' in the Japanese version) though it might not work with all missions I can't find out for certain.

This is how I feel about the PS4. Just shows how different people can be, I guess. It's tempting, but I need more reason than just Bloodborne and Rocket League to buy an entire console, especially since I've already beaten Bloodborne once on my buddy's PS4. Dark Souls III is coming though, and I'd probably play The Witcher 3 if I had one, but it's not a game I really care about overmuch. MGSV isn't the Metal Gear sequel I wanted by any stretch and I have zero interest in it. Beyond that, there's nothing for me right now. Definitely some interesting stuff on the horizon though, like Media Molecule's Dreams.

Wii U on the other hand has Mario Maker, Super Mario 3D Land, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Tropical Freeze, Pushmo World, Pikmin 3, Monster Hunter, Nintendo Land, Star Fox Zero (please be good), the new Zelda, and now this. It also has games I can't get on my PS3 but I could get on steam, but I'd rather just play on a console, like The Fall and Human Resource Machine. All of that is way more my jam. Shame nobody else seems to give a shit about it.

Why'd they do an American city but not give the characters American names? It doesn't bother me that much, but it seems weird.
