@drewbert I'm playing through FF6 as well, but in Vietnamese. ;) It's cool to revisit a game in a whole new language that I'm learning. It's slow going but a lot of fun. :D

I think the problem is the broad term "brain surgery," like it's just one thing. There's a thousand different reasons to be getting brain surgery, many of them requiring very different situations for the patient.

It'd be kind of like saying "Did you know when you make a sandwich, you put ham on it?"

Hearing Dan just wail on controllers during fighting games is like nails on a chalkboard for me as a longtime player of them ;-;

If you're getting into Studio Ghibli films, I recommend Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Porco Rosso. Princess Mononoke is more action and something like Porco or Totoro are more easy going and Castle in the Sky and Spirited Away are probably more in between.

Films like The Wind Rises and Grave of the Fireflies are much more "serious" and lack a lot of the semi-supernatural or full-on surreal nature of a lot of Ghibli movies but are still great.

Another really cool one is The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, it has a striking Japanese watercolor painting style to it and the plot is based off an old Japanese folk tale. Heck of a movie! I was lucky enough to see it at the cinema. But it is easy to recommend so many of their movies at a certain point; Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Whisper of the Heart are all movies I really like! If you read this hopefully it gives you some guidance for what to watch.

Don't really think FFVI holds up nearly as well as Chrono Trigger, even putting my CT bias aside. CT is much more forgiving. Random encounters in VI can be pretty brutal at times. It also just looks a hell of a lot better.

Would love to see Drew play through FFVII, with someone who enjoyed it to explain to him how impactful that title was when it first came out.

Also totally played $90 for Super Mario RPG (all my birthday money). Still worth it tbqh.

Will Jason miss Dan? We will find out in a few months!

It continually amazes me how good Jeff is at cold opens.

It's going to be like on The Simpsons when Homer's hair grew back because Bart and Lisa were away at Kamp Krusty. All that stress will be gone and Jason's head will be thick as an otter.
