The recent Sly Collection (an HD rerelease of the three Sly Cooper games) on the PS3 revealed that the erstwhile platform mascot would soon be returning to the PlayStation console. At Sony's E3 Press Conference today, Sly Cooper announced his triumphant return in the upcoming PS3 release Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.

No dates for the upcoming game were revealed, nor was any in-game footage revealed (the reveal trailer was pre-rendered.. But if you like Sly Cooper and miss his high-quality platformer adventures and his gang of thieves, you can take heart: Sony is making another one… and that's what we know.

I played half the the 2nd one then never played it again, all i remember is jumping over lasers.
 
Kinda wish i still had my PS2 so i could figure out what i'm missing out on.

We need more light-hearted games and this is a step in the right direction. 

Really oughta play that HD collection sometime. But there's already (and now more with the GoW Origins collection) so much coming out that I'm completely stripped =(

While I am happy about this, I'm surprised they showed absolutely nothing of R&C: All 4 One.

In the trailer it showed the developer of the collections logo in the back...

so unfortunately I don't think so.

Pretty excited, Sly is an excellent series. Sly 2 in particular features some of the strongest game design I've ever seen.

Weird if Sucker Punch really isn't making this game.

So I can't help but notice they've yet again neglected to announce a developer. That makes me really nervous.

This actually made the Sony conference for me. Sony could have announced the Vita with an MSRP of $2,150 and I'd still be extremely pleased with them overall.

I think the title is kind of lazy, but I'd like to play Sly 4 now. Like, right now.

Not loving the next high-def look of the game. Granted, that was almost definitely a pre-rendered trailer. But I'm still really excited for this game as long as it is developed by Sucker Punch.

Here's to hoping that Sanzaru Games has captured and understand the great gameplay and charm of the sly series when they compiled the first 3 in the collection. More great platformers, Im in.
