In today's Bombcast, Brad related a story where he claimed to have been assailed by a zerg player who, essentially, went full Econ, and took several bases before getting ANY units, and eventually overwhelmed Brad's defenses.
I am racking my head, and cannot imagine how this strat could possibly work. I need to see this match.
If anyone has a line to Brad, please urge him to make this match available. I need to see it to believe it.
Edit: The match in question is discussed at around 1:13, according to iTunes.
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Game » consists of 10 releases. Released Jul 27, 2010
The first chapter in the StarCraft II trilogy focuses on the struggles of the Terran race, as seen through the eyes of Commander Jim Raynor, leader of the rebel group Raynor's Raiders.
Brad, please post the replay of your Protoss vs Zerg match
" I wanna see this, for all of Brads talk about "Learning build orders and Hot Keys" this seems like a pretty silly thing to lose too. "Well, the response to a huge gamble heavy econ build isn't build orders and hotkeys, it's proper scouting and pressing the advantage before his economy puts him unstoppably far ahead.
I want to see it too. Come on Brad, we all know you lurk the SC2 forum. You have to see this thread eventually.
Sounds like Brad must have been turtling hard that match. Surely he would have been able to snipe out the expansions otherwise.
" If anyone has a line to Brad, please urge him to make this match available. "I hear this website has a private message function, and that the people who work on it tend to check them often. Might wanna try that instead of waiting for him to happen across this thread.
" Sounds like Brad must have been turtling hard that match. Surely he would have been able to snipe out the expansions otherwise. "Apparently he was but by the time he had got most of them that the other guy had gone muta/ling and just raped his main.
I really wanna see it, but iunno how it could of even happened with proper scouting. He said he scouted his base and saw like nothing (and thought "is he afk? oh well easy win"). If I ever saw a base with no tech or whatever I always suspect them to be hiding somewhere, but I guess that comes with experience of seeing/playing games like that.
Yo bro, that link doesn't work." here you guys go: http://ninjashane.com/starcraft/replays/Multiplayer/Giantbomb/Giant.Bomb.Brad.vs.Zookie.Wookie.SC2Replay "
I don't think the Brad Vs. Zookie fight is what they're talking about. Unless I'm crazy, the replay they want is the one Brad talked about on the Bombcast where he fought against a Zerg player that rapidly expanded in an unorthodox fashion that took Brad by surprise. Also, I'm just looking at the link name, so maybe the video is exactly that.
Oh and, clickable links = win: http://ninjashane.com/starcraft/replays/Multiplayer/Giantbomb/Giant.Bomb.Brad.vs.Zookie.Wookie.SC2Replay
**Edit: This actually isn't the won where Brad loses.
Yeah, would guess that's it's a combination of no early scouting and turtling up his original or natural (both of which I'm often guilty as of Terran - I need to get early scouts out, but I always just start scouting once I get ready to attack).
" So is that the replay or not? "Brad won that one, so no. Not the one talked about on the Bombcast.
" Sounds like Brad must have been turtling hard that match. Surely he would have been able to snipe out the expansions otherwise. "
I mentioned on the podcast that I took out a bunch of his expos (that was the match I got the "destroy four hatcheries in one game" achievement on) but he had almost full map control by the time I really had a handle on what was happening. His insanely huge balls of lings and mutas were so mobile that he was able to effectively harass my economy into oblivion every time I tried to move out and hit one of his bases.
maybe somebody can make a fraps video of it from brad's perspective. Can you follow where each of the players were looking when they were playing, or do you just get free camera control only?
" maybe somebody can make a fraps video of it from brad's perspective. Can you follow where each of the players were looking when they were playing, or do you just get free camera control only? "If you have starcraft 2, you can set it to follow only one players movement and camera just as if you were watching them play.
