I was wondering if there is any way to change you hotkeys so that you can control the camera with WASD instead of the arrows

This seems like a terrible fucking idea. WSAD are some of the most common hotkeys used for units/abilities/upgrades. Use the mouse to move the camera.

You can change the button layout to a certain degree, you can't assign your own hot keys at all. If you're new to SC or the RTS genre I'd say that you'll have to get used to using the directional buttons to move,by taking away the wasd keys you're putting your self at a big disadvantage from a hot keying stand point, plus the RTS genre isn't really somewhere where you need your main hand controlling your movement of the map, your left hand needs to be a lot more busy than that :) But in a nutshell, no you can't completely remap the controls.

Make it work, in every RTS I use arrows for camera movement, just use it when you're not making large movements around the map. Use the minimap when you want to move fast, I can't stand using the "hold mouse to side of screen to make it move" mechanic. 
 
Besides, it's not too hard moving a few inches to hit hotkeys to build, attack etc.

ok i get that they cant be changed, it was just a habit i picked up from medieval 2 total war

I don't have SC2 yet & haven't played SC1 in years, so pardon me if this is already used for something.... but, provided you have a newer mouse with a scroll-wheel that can also scroll left & right by tilting it in either direction, couldn't you bind the camera panning to the scroll-wheel instead of WASD? This seems way more functional to me since your right hand is already controlling movement anyways. This would allow the subtle camera movements without having to move your cursor, but would leave your left hand free for hotkeys.
