I've been in the beta for a few weeks already.@ajamafalous said:
Wouldn't it be the craziest thing if one of the token prizes was a Dota 2 beta invite?Let me tell you about Dota 2.
Do you want to play the WC3 version of Dota with prettier graphics? Then this game is what you want.
Do you want ANY meaningful changes from the WC3 version? Then you should play HoN or LoL or something else. This game is DotA-ass DotA. With everything good and bad about that.
And let me tell you, the people are the same. This is hands-down THE worst community on the internet. You think Xbox Live is bad? They have nothing on some of these people. Just be prepared.
Also in particular the interface has a lot of stuff not completed yet. No tutorials, no help, private game lobbies work EXACTLY like WC3, it is unclear if matchmaking takes any skill into account (it probably does), etc. This beta is a beta which is actually kind of refreshing in a way.
So if you are still interested after all of that, the game is actually still great. I mean WC3 DotA is still fun today for these reasons, so this game which is basically the same should also be fun. And it totally is! Get some friends (or make some) and matchmake together and the pub-stomping fun times can roll. Just know what you are getting into.

Steam Holiday Sale 2011
I just noticed buying all the Railworks 3 DLC separately would cost you just under ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS.
Thank god that they don't have those 5 indie games for $5 packs. I think I bought all of them last year.
I bought myself Sequence. It's been sitting in my wishlist since October, and it's a steal at $2.50. If you like rhythm games and RPGs, I'd highly suggest it.
Besides that, I have Bully: Scholarship Edition, Tropico 3, and Just Cause 2 sitting in my cart. Does anyone have any experience with Bully on the PC? I've heard nothing but good things about the game itself, but nothing particular to the PC version.
@animathias: I picked up bully on steam a few weeks ago. I only played about 2 hours or so, but i didn't run into a single problem, ran great.
Awesome, that's good to hear. Thank you!@animathias: I picked up bully on steam a few weeks ago. I only played about 2 hours or so, but i didn't run into a single problem, ran great.
Has anyone played Bunch of Heroes? I doubt I'm gonna bite, but the trailer video on Steam made it look pretty decent.

Is "Bunch of Heroes" worth playing?
I have heard that game is pretty bad. The games holiday sale achievement is apperently broken and the devs haven't responded to it at all.
Well at least it was super cheap. I figured I'd get it to get that achievement, shame it's broken though. :/
Got one of the indie bundles. The one with Rock of Ages in. I'll probably pick up one of the other two at some point.
Hilarious.@TMThomsen said:

Got Singlularity and The Next Big Thing. I don't know what it is about that last one, but something about it just draws me in... and I don't even like point and click adventure games.
Is Sacred 1 and 2 any good?
Will finally pick up Costume quest, even if it's the wrong season.

Any chance The Witcher 2 will cost less at some point? Looks really tempting to buy both games..
I don't think it has ever happened that game have gotten cheaper than their daily deal during a steam sale.

Thanks, just picked those three games up. I have gotten 4 games for the price of one console game, I think I love PC..
Picked up dungeons of dredmor, looking at Tropico 4. Thing is, I still have 20ish games from the summer sale I havent played.
Got Costume Quest and Psychonauts. I love you, Tim Schafer.
I got Dungeons of Dredmor, Psychonauts, and... *gasp*... Duke Nukem Forever. I promised my brother I would play through it and this is the cheapest I've seen it so might as well get it. I'll probably also get Costume Quest as well.
My first goals are to get the Gift Pile stuff from Dungeons of Dredmore and Psychonauts.
Edit: got the achievement for for Dungeons of Dredmore. 50% off a game I already have and a lump of coal. :(
It's a really fun game though and quite funny. They have mini Babybel cheese as a health item.

Same.
Also, any of you that have not played Recettear should buy it now.
I got Orcs Must Die as a gift yesterday and got the achievement, but for some reason it is still grayed out as incomplete on the holiday page. Checked today and it was still like this, what do?
Just found out & getting a few things though kind of vexed on the fact that now if I pull up the wishlist (through the steam app on the pc) it no longer shows the prices. Was an easy way to see just what was on sale. So far I still like the summer event (at least so far) at using the new seasonal achievement tickets for getting new dlc/games but time will tell what they will put on this season of holiday madness.

Why would they do that? I'm going to hope that it's some kind of error :(
Friendly reminder: Some of the games that have the holiday achievements are in Humble Bundle #4. Also, Humble Bundle #4 is pretty nuts if you don't have most of those games.
Looking for someone in the US who can gift me The Witcher 2, will paypal you the cost. Add me on Steam if can do it, I would really appreciate it.
