i get why some people don't like it- but sword and sworcery is one of my top game experiences of the last 10 years. that sound track might be my favourite of all time- jim guthrie's work is brilliant.
but real talk, let's all just vote for kentucky route zero, mmmkay?
For the record, I meant "the writing just seems pathetic and sad". The weird thing is, I do really like parts of the game overall. The soundtrack is indeed fantastic, and the graphics are pretty cool, and I like the weird vague mythology it has and the Zelda references.
I just really couldn't stand the weird second person narration, and how it kept sarcastically patting the player on the back for doing things. It just felt way too clever for its own good, and broke the 4th wall a little too much for me. I just didn't have much of an attachment to the Scythian even at the end of the story, because it's like, if the game can't take itself seriously, why should I give a crap what happens to this character?
And like I said, really didn't care for the lunar cycle thing, and also why were the dreams A- and B-sides of a record with the Triforce on it? I'm not going to cry "Hipster!" because sure, the guys who made the game are probably just old enough to have had records when they were young, but still, it seems so random.
