Steam X-mas sales
So I can't buy stalker because my Gift visa card I got for Christmas was declined. It still has 10 bucks on it WTF
" @Rebirth1337: Maybe you've reached the limit of purchases this month? Call the bank, they'll know why it was declined. "Well I got it to work by re-entering the number, but I'm not using my real debit to buy stuff. My uncle got me a Visa gift card so I could buy steam games.
On another note I have five bucks left anyone know a good RTS, Company of Heroes I was looking at it's 4.99
Has anyone who's interested in Amnesia not got it yet? Go now! :o I think anyone who is interested in horror, at all, should own this game.
I would buy it but I've seen too many lets plays on it which makes me sad because it looked soo good." Has anyone who's interested in Amnesia not got it yet? Go now! :o I think anyone who is interested in horror, at all, should own this game. "
Anyone know what this Grotesque Tactics game is like? Looks kinda like Disgaea which I liked, but was bloody long.
If using a PC" So I can't buy stalker because my Gift visa card I got for Christmas was declined. It still has 10 bucks on it WTF "
-Exit Steam, then go to the location that Steam is installed to. By default this is C:\\Program Files\\Steam directory (this is the default with a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).
-Delete all of the files except for:
Steam.exe
And the folder \\SteamApps\\
Restart your computer and test the issue.
"Neverwinter Nights"The original? Absolutely. Bioware's last truly classic game, imo. I haven't played 2 though.
I actually bought a lot less than usual this year.
I got Bully, Just Cause 2, Amnesia, Swords and Soldiers, Hitman Collection, and PB Winterbottom.
About $30.
" I need some "yes" or "no"'s on the following: Mafia II Neverwinter Nights Grotesque Tactics "I can't speak to Mafia or Grotesque Tactics, but lemme say this about NWN2...
I already own it and I bought it again. If you're a total D&D nerd like me you'll adore every moment. If you're a CRPG fan you'll love almost every moment. If you're a Baldur's Gate fan it'll completely scratch your itch. If you like an insane amount of customization in your RPGs, you'll love it.
In my opinion, it's the best computer RPG of the past ten years at one of the lowest prices you're likely to find. And you get 1 awesome expansion and a second decent expansion as part of the deal. And I haven't even touched the multiplayer, but I hear there's some ridiculous persistent worlds out there for the game. Buy it, buy it, buy it.
Is there anything really cheap that isn't on the daily sale that I should pick up? Since it's the last day I don't know what good deals I might have missed.
I just caved in an bought a slew of games(I know some of them were cheaper earlier in the sale):
Super Meat Boy 6,99
Monkey Island: Special Edition Bundle 7,49
Torchlight 3,99
Indie 2D pack 4,49
Oddworld Pack 5,24
Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom 0,39
Poker Night at the Inventory (It wasn't on sale, but I figured it was worth it) 3,99
" @Geno said:I assume he means the second, the one that's up on Steam."Neverwinter Nights"The original? Absolutely. Bioware's last truly classic game, imo. I haven't played 2 though. "
I wouldn't really recommend it. It's pretty good, the story is solid and the first expansion has a really fantastic story.. But the game itself is a mess. It has a lot of technical and gameplay issues and can be an utter pain to play.
If you enjoy story driven games, things like KotOR and can put up with the flaws, then it's worth a go.
" No daily deals for me. I'll Probably just pick up Civ IVThanks for that list, man. I just picked up the Adventure Pack. Awesome-O.
Here some of the non daily deal games that are pretty good
Commamdos Collection - 2.99

" @Gav47: Dark Void Zero worth 2.5 Euro? "I haven't bought it yet, Gametrailers gave it a good review but the fact that it only has three levels is kinda off putting
" @TwoLines said:Hmm.. 3 levels, eh? Will have to think about it.." @Gav47: Dark Void Zero worth 2.5 Euro? "I haven't bought it yet, Gametrailers gave it a good review but the fact that it only has three levels is kinda off putting "
Mafia II: Good game as long as you don't expect it to be a sandbox like GTA. Even if the city is open it serves mostly as backdrop as the game is very linear (no side missions and bowling with friends like in GTA). In return it had one of my favorite stories this year." I need some "yes" or "no"'s on the following: Mafia II Neverwinter Nights Grotesque Tactics "
NWN2: Was very buggy when it was released. But it got many patches and is now one of the best RPGs.
" The fact that Mafia 2, a game I bought full price 6 months ago, is now 12$, makes me want to hurt something. No more buying games on release unless they're huge games i need like Mass Effect. 'cause damn. "I feel your pain. I learned the hard way and nowadays I don't buy anything full-priced anymore. I have enough games on my backlog to pass the time till what I want drops to around ~€20 or less, and then I buy it. Besides, GOTY editions are becoming increasingly popular and they're a much better deal.
Also, I just tried activating my copy of NWN2 on Steam, but it doesn't accept the serial number :(
" And it looks like I'm done. Nothing I missed and I'm glad I got DoW 2 plus expansion dirt cheap during the thanksgiving sale. "How much did you get it for originally? I just don't know if I should get both now for $30 or if I should just splurge on the THQ Complete pack so I can have COH and DoW1 all at once.
do I dare recap my purchases... mind you, this was my first big sale, so I was a bit excited...DONT JUDGE ME :(

" @Pinworm45: I think that's the wrong way to protest this. Mafia II is $12 because too few people payed $50 or $60 for it 6 months ago. I, personally, want good games to make money, and Mafia II is no exception. "Well, I wasn't a huge fan of Mafia 2 so I guess that helps.
But really, I'm not rich and I spend too much as it is. It's not a 'protest' as much as I just need to be smarter with my money.
Besides, there will never come a day where I will have the patience to wait for games that are in series I can't live without, like Mass Effect or Star Craft or something. Mafia 2 was a game I'd never heard of but heard some good chat on GB and decided to check it out.
I am really surprised to see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. back on here after what, Friday? Also, Neverwinter Nights 2 Platinum is interesting. Probably have to pass.
DEFCON is a great game. You can also get it by buying the indie mix pack which also contains Darwinia, Cogs, Eufloria and Plain Sight. In the EU the Indie pack is cheaper than Defcon seperatly.
@Afroman269 said:It was $12 for both DoW 2 and Chaos Rising in a daily deal back in the thanksgiving sale." And it looks like I'm done.
What region are you in? I see the DoW 2 Gold Edition that comes with DoW 2 and Chaos Rising for $20. I am in what I assume is the North American region.
" @heatDrive88: What region are you in? I see the DoW 2 Gold Edition that comes with DoW 2 and Chaos Rising for $20. I am in what I assume is the North American region. "I'm in Canada, and yeah I just noticed that deal too. I don't believe there's any crazy region things going on.
It's simply my cheapness taking into effect, and my own inability to take action on buying. I know I could easy buy that, it's just my indecision to pull the trigger on buying that versus the THQ Complete Pack for $50 so I can have the entire original DoW series with all expansions and all the Company of Heroes stuff as well. Metro 2033 and Red Faction Guerilla included is not a terrible thing either, maybe.
Yeah, that doesn't sound to bad. Metro 2033 is a pretty darn good game too. I haven't played too much of it but I loved what I have played so far.
I'm in Canada as well but I figured it might be worth noting because I remember people saying that certain deals weren't as good in other places. Don't remember the regions but I'd imagine places in Europe.
Metro 2033
DoWII + Chaos Rising
Titan Quest games (best Diablo type game until Diablo III rolls around, I prefer them over Torchlight)
Stalker: SoC
Red Faction: Guerilla (maybe)
So basically the question is, is Metro 2033 + Titan Quest worth $30? I would say not really. Metro was $7.50 not too long ago and will probably meet that price again, and the Titan Quest games are on sale all the time for like 5 bucks. My 2 cents is just to go with the DoWII games for now. For Stalker SoC you should just get the $5 bundle that has Call of Pripyat in it as well.
