Whilst he wasn’t immediately popular his loud mouth distinguished himself resulting in the WWF giving Austin the spotlight.Austin eventually wrestled the famous wrestler Bret Hart after antagonising him for several months previous. The match between Bret and Austin took place at Wrestlemania 13 ending in Stone Cold passing out in Bret’s finisher manoeuvre; the Sharpshooter. Wrestlemania 17 marked a rare occasion were a Babyface {good guy} sparred with another babyface forcing a divide between the audience. During the match Vince McMahon, Austin’s nemesis and owner of the company, sided with Austin helping him to defeat the Rock. WWF’s decision to make Austin a heel {villain} was an attempt to freshen the character although this backfired as the crowd still cheered Austin or lost interest.Austin then led the new alliance to batle with the WWF to take total control of the wrestling industry. During the main event at invasion Austin turned his back against WWF and joined Shane, Stephanie and Paul Heyman. Austin during this time was the WWF champion and kept the alliance together during this battle. At survivor series in the win all match Kurt Angle who was already eliminated came out and attacked Austin turning his back against the alliance, this led to The Rock hitting the Rock bottom on Austin to win the match for the WWF. The aftermath for Stone cold was he kept his WWF title and would lose to Chris Jericho who got help from Booker T. Austin and Booker T would fight it out in a supermarket and go through church resulting in Austin beating Booker T.
