Bloodmounts are creatures that come from the Hollow. They are enslaved by the Locust and ridden into combat. They are notably the only creature from the Hollow to be tamable.
A Boomer is a larger, more powerful variety of the standard Locust Drone. The standard Boomer uses a Boomshot, but other varieties include the Grinder, Mauler, Butcher, and Flame.
Bosses are enemies that fight you at the end of a level or at a significant point in the story.
A boss fight is a culminating challenge that pits the player against one or more enemies representing a greater threat and/or difficulty than those previously faced. These scenarios typically feature unique antagonists.
These walking tanks are possibly the deadliest enemy in the Gears of War universe. They have mounted missile launchers on their backs, four Troika turrets on their wrists and are piloted by the Locust.
Enemies that arrive at the surface from underground. Often this is used as a method of taking the player by surprise.
Sparks fly as you fight to avoid getting cut into bits!
A large spider like creature from the Hollow. The Locust use them to make large E-holes, big enough for Brumaks to march out of.
The means of Attack by the Locust horde.
A new monk-like Locust that revives downed Locusts and summons Rockworms with a low chant.
Lethal bat-like Locust race used to protect parts of cities late at night. Inability to determine friend or foe or pure bloodlust leaves everyone dead who wanders into their dark.
The Lambent are Immulsion-infected Locusts that glow and grow tentacles. They begin to attack the regular Locusts and explode after being killed. The Lambent are instinct-driven and only care about one thing: killing all other life forms.
The Locust Horde are the main enemies in Gears of War with multiple types to crush the COG military. It is unknown whether the Locust are truly indigenous to Sera, but it is known that they will die for control of Sera.
Nemacyst are flying, organic bombs spew forth from a Seeder's tail. They take aim for the closest COG or helicopter. Seem to have red eyes that is used to lock on to targets like COG's and Helicopters.
Originally from the Hollows, a large underground cave system, these creatures have been re-purposed as aerial vehicles by the Locust.
Anti-aircraft units for the Locust Horde. They jam radio communications and fire Nemacysts to take down King Raven helicopters.
Enemies that hide behind shields.
Forced labor, indentured servitude, humans relegated to property. One of the greatest affronts to individual freedom. Some games employ this as a gameplay mechanic or a major story point.
Living Locust land mines that can move fast to unsuspecting soldiers.
