What a game!
Well, at least it looks really cool. The visual style, particularly the design of the UI, is incredibly engrossing. Little numbers, random words, dashing lines, all of these sorts of random elements make the experience of slogging through hundreds of lines of dialogue a lot more entertaining.
The actual game play is less than exciting. The walking around, looking for things to interact with feels a little stale and unimaginative. But, this is made up for in the story, which, is pretty engrossing.
The story is divided into two acts. The first act you play as a detective working for the "Department of Heinous Crimes." Your chasing after some kind of super-villain who is made from a template of people which were raised in a shelter community. Entangled in this story is a lot of political intrigue, including a corporation dumping environmentally hazardous waste into a river, and a variety of murder conspiracies.
The second act is where you play as a journalist covering the story that you played as a detective in in the first act. In this act, you play through the same routine everyday which consists of getting up, checking your email and sometimes going to a bar. As you can imagine, actually checking your email everyday gets pretty boring, but I think that the personality and sense of irony imbued in the characters makes it worth a play through.
Overall, the game is a cool, if not a little long-winded, experience.
