Persona 5 Reveal Trailer

Did people really expect P5 to be a PS4 game?
This is one of the few reason I planned on keeping my PS3 around for a while.

Personally I wouldn't even have been surprised if it had been on PS2 like Persona 4.

I was really worried when I watching all those first few announcements. I was thinking man this is it. I'm glad they had this reveal trailer.

I have Persona 5 thoughts for about a year or so. Too long to detail here, head still not clear from waking up 3am. Most of them is just based off their comment of it's going to be really different than before. I think I should just sit back, relax, and enjoy what they are going to present to us.

Yah, Sony just stopped making the PS2 this year. I doubt the PS3 will die anytime soon.

So with that configuration of chairs, I guess we're sticking with a high school setting? The students are slaves? I mean, my high school was pretty unpleasant at times too, but I don't remember any chains.

To be honest, I hadn't entirely ruled out P5 being a PS2 game.

Somewhere between wanting my crackpot theory to hold up and this be nothing like Persona 3 and 4 and wanting it to be like Persona 3 and 4 because I really liked the latter of those games.

According to a certain very unreliable website, for ATLUS's more recent releases, there was a 5 month gap between the US and JP version of P4. 5 months for P4G, 8 months for P4A, 8 for P3P, 5 for Catherine. And let's not forget they also do a buncha other games like SMT, Devil Survivor, Etrian Odyssey, etc (and those took anywhere between 2, for SMT4, to 7, for EO4).

They took 13 for P3 and 12 for P3:FES, but those are many years ago and they've probably staffed up by now.

Averaging that out, you'll probably only see P5 in English about 5-6 months later, in Q3 2015 earliest. Good luck maintaining that hype.

So winter '14 in japan. So even longer wait for a US release.

Keep in mind that PS4 should have that Gaikai stuff ironed out by this time next year so any PS3 games purchased digitally on PSN should be playable on PS4.

I should probably finish Persona 3 before this comes out.

Looks like they are going for a darker tone, perhaps. Fine by me. Persona 3 FES is still my favourite after all.

I was kinda hoping it would stay on PS3, but if it's going to take that long I would prefer it release on PS4 (or both). It's interesting that Xbox isn't mentioned at all, though that might only be for Japan.

I'm pretty much in agreement. I love all those guys, but I want to see something fresh from the team. The fact that we're getting more Arena and that 3DS crossover game probably means they're already getting it out of their system on those games.

Why is the persona team always so behind, Persona 4 came out on PS2 three years after the PS3 released... They can't even release a 360 version of P5? Come on son.

... I jest, of course. But still. That PS3 is going nowhere soon with this on the horizon. Probably still be playing FIFA '11 for another year as well; by the time I get myself a PS4 it'll be too near next year's footy iterations to pick up the current edition.

I'm not sure I understand why people are so concerned about characters from 3 and 4 stealing the spotlight in this game. They pretty consistently only keep prior character appearances to cameos and brief mentions. They want to continue that storyline but give it its own games, and if this continues I expect to see the P5 cast join in on that larger arc while the eventual P6 gang takes the stage.

Also if the themes of this game are "slavery" and "emancipation" I fully expect an Abraham Lincoln Persona. Make it happen, Atlus.

I'm a huge fan of Japan and think Persona 4 is cool (have it on my Vita), but that game gets waaaayy too much love! It's not that good, well it's good but it's not like "The greatest RPJ ever made".

Perhaps a more serious Persona in the works? Though that doesn't preclude any old (and now older) members of past Personas. Though it looks like P4 is well represented in other games...

I just find this disappointing. It was already obvious they were going to make a Persona 5. This is just news that we're years away from a US localized version, and it's being released on a last gen console that I'll have to dig out of storage. Really lame. At least they finally formally announced it, so that's a step forward.

There's not gonna be 10 games next year that are better than P5.
