With the 20 mins we had in this video Stephanie seems pretty cool. Like a female version of Dan. Only vastly more self aware.

@razielcuts: I've noticed they tend to change the name of things when they go unused for a while and they want to extend the range of what it means. For example, Random PC Game and Load Our Last Save more or less morphed together into Playdate. This way I think videos like this read more as preview coverage than their final quick look

I was just commenting that DotEmu has some blemishes on their track record particularly on PC. Most of the mobile to PC FF game ports are really unfortunate and their arcade emu work is often quite poor as well.

Yo for real I dont need " redone" menu's and shit.

Just give me the old character select, infinite set time and im good.

I hope they add an unlimited time option.

CRT mode with image distortion, scanlines and 4:3 with clutter on the sides is just disgusting.

Even when Brad was dropping hints to turn that off they still tried to keep it.

I still have a crt in my room. On new tvs, sometimes I use filters in games and sometimes I don't. Looking at old games on new monitors is worse than looking at them on old monitors, 100% of the time anyways, so I'm not sure what kind of HD High Horse anyone thinks they are riding. "Regular" is just as garbage as a filter, which as an attempt to replicate the superior pixel displaying format, which is and always will be a crt... I guess, unless anyone figures it out.

I don't have a framemeister, so no idea if that's worth the cash. I've hard that "solves the problem" for HD but then again I believe it also has filters, so that says something.

Old games implied at least as much as they showed. Clarity isn't always a boon.

I laughed out loud when he said he was going to use CRT and you could hear Jeffsome sadness especially how much he hates crt modes and Scanlon es. Let me guess people who like CRT modes like film grain in games (nothing worse except dof)...games look better when they are crisp and bright not ruined with post processing that makes the image look worse.

You have pretty loose criteria on what constitutes "Dan" or "Dan-like" behavior. She didn't say a whole lot and at no point did I think "wait is she serious about that?"

I'm not 100 percent positive, but I believe the Stephanie in question here is Stephanie Tinsley of Tinsley PR, who is working with her clients and not auditioning for a Giant Bomb vacancy. With GDC next week, it would make sense for the DotEmu devs to come to the U.S. a bit early to meet up with press and business partners.

She tweeted on Feb. 22 about how one of her developers she works with is in town and incredibly jetlagged. DotEmu is based in France, as is Lizardcube, the developers of the DotEmu-published Wonder Boy III remake that is getting its own Quick Look EX on Monday. I wouldn't be surprised if Stephanie appears in that one too, as both were probably recorded back-to-back.

It's awesome this will be available for people, but I don't see a mid 90's Neo Geo port hitting it big with eSports and being the next Rocket League like they seem to want. A modern remake/reimagining like Disc Jam seems like it would have a better shot.

Tell DotEmu to fix their shitty port of Raiden Legacy on Steam and I'll consider buying this game.

This might not matter now that Retroarch has Netplay Lobbies in development at the moment.

I've never had a problem with a good scanlines filter but what I do have a problem with is the bulgy fisheye filter.

People who grew up with crt TVs (and my first one was the size of a small hatchback) generally threw street parties when flatter screens got released.

I could hear Jeff screaming inside his own head when they went with the CRT Filter view. That was nice that he was too polite to make a scene though.
