Normally i can look past animation flaws after the initial shock, but these eyes just kept doing weird things throughout the stream. And that's not the only problem that this game has...

This game looks a lot better on xbone? not sure why, but maybe a ps4 pro thing with the eyes? Sarah Ryder's voice acting is better than Scott's thankfully.

I'm an hour into the trial and really liking it. To each his own, I did love DA:I though. Combat is solid, can't wait to get more powers.

The animations aren't great, some of the voice acting is rough but overall this version seems to run/look a LOT smoother than the ps4 pro one. Guessing no optimization patch yet isn't helping it there.

This game seems like it's gonna be one of those "You just have to try it yourself" kind of games. Some people seem to love it. Some people seem to hate it. It will go down at the worst Mass Effect so far, and the most underrated Mass Effect so far.

I haven't played Andromeda, but I think my issue is, I liked Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I loved Dragon Age: Origins. I know it's hard to replicate past success without being too samey, but for Dragon Age, I just wanted more of the same (I did NOT like Dragon Age 2).

I just kind of want more Mass Effect 1 and I don't think I'm going to get it.

Oh man... No. I am pretty excited for this game and can't wait to play it, but yeah, I am totally seeing why they are more or less groaning/scoffing at some of this. Damn. This is disappointing, but hopefully, other areas will make up for it or some of this just feels negligible and gets better. I wasn't seeing the negativity from the past videos shown, but this just makes it look like it's taking a step back in terms of facial expression, and perhaps even voice work.

The walking animations are still the same from the previous Mass Effect's, and it just looks awkward; the part where the woman leaves to do something twenty minutes in. I think Dragon Age Inquisition looked superb, but this kind of looks bad in spots... Worse. If the game has good characters, an interesting enough plot, and fun combat and good environments to explore, then I'm okay. Seriously, though, this makes me say WTF.

I came into this thinking 'I imagine I'll like what I see, but I hope the staff here do too; that'd be cool', and I am going to leave it thinking that I didn't like what I saw myself.

The fucking eyeballs. Just look at them in the thumbnail. The lady has real, human-sized eyes; most of her visible eye-meat is pupil and iris. Now look at Ryder (in the middle). His irises are tiny, and it looks like the eyeballs themselves must be six inches in diameter. It's actual body horror.

This really seems limited to the ps4 pro right now, it's better on xbone and pc. There was a patch to download before my trial started.

So the dialogue options have icons representing emotions but the characters seem unable to express any.

I love Mass Effect 3 so much.

But these intro discussions just seems kind of empty and soulless, so hopefully the prologue effectively sets up why I should care about any of this.

Maybe they should've put as much effort into character animation and cutscene direction as they did into Peebee's teeth.

Animation schmanimation, the writing in this game sounds like it came out of a Sci-Fi Channel original series that was cancelled after nine episodes.

The chat was railing on this game, but I think it looks promising. Just comes down to the characters, which is what makes Bioware games stand out from the crowd (to me)...hopefully there's some great ones.

Looks bad. Nothing about this looks good. The male Ryder looks like Paul Ryan and that seems really strange. Probably going to skip it then.

In a game like Mass Effect I'm willing to look past some bad voice acting and weird facial animations. So that stuff probably won't bother me like it seems to bother all of the staff at Giant Bomb.

I thought people were overreacting about the animations and normally this kind of thing doesn't bother me, but ... that conversation with Addison at 14:30 really struck me.

And I really like Mass Effect but when a very significant amount of the game is spent close-up on people's faces and bodies, you really have to nail it. Whether or not it bothers you is subjective but it certainly seems off.

EDIT: Hearing that they just straight up categorize dialogue options really bums me out. Like, way to whittle away the cinematic feel of the game.

It looks way better/smoother on pc and xbox. Wondering if it's a ps4 pro boost mode error? Because it doesn't look like that right now while I'm playing it.

Geeze this looks rough. I loved the original games, I was hoping for a big step forward. Something about this just looks wrong. Maybe getting spoiled with some incredible games lately like Horizon Zero Dawn have spoiled me.

This is what I am hoping for. I was derisive during the stream, but more and more I wanted to play it. The graphics/lighting are great without the actual characters, and the combat looked good. Getting virtually laid isn't a need I have at least right away, being an older sort. Hearing the PC mode is perhaps better gives me hope, though not much. Aren't the face designs and such pretty much universal, or does that truly smooth out? I need something to help me escape Let It Die Hell.

I feel like the eyes are either looking directly at the camera or are cross eyed which both are very distracting. What little emotion is in the reading doesn't come across at all in the animation. I'm still keen as long as the game play is fun

I just played through the entire trilogy thanks to bc and I can say without a doubt that this is NOT a step down in any way so far 2 1/2 hours in.

I can already tell I'm going to get annoyed by all the "You're the pathfinder!" nonsense. Can't we have a game where I'm just a somewhat skilled guy who happens to be in the right place at the right time? I want to be me in space basically. With some additional added team leading charisma. I don't want a title that's being thrown around like messiah.

Why do I have to be the only one who can do the thing. Especially when the thing doesn't seem like anything that unique to this one individual. At least Shepard received a one time only warning from an ancient alien race. What makes a pathfinder so special and capable of finding the path? I haven't watched the full video, but the way they talk about "we didn't have a pathfinder before!" makes it sound like they're a bunch of children waiting around for adult supervision before they do anything.

Everything else seems...fine I suppose. Animation is rough, but nothing I can't endure. Combat looks fun. Hard to judge the story and characters without seeing too much, and I don't want to see too much.

It has been fine so far, it's mainly tied to a few things that have started out as a bit of a mystery. I'm into the story and characters so far, thankfully.

Whaat is with those default faces, seriously. As someone who's playing through DA:I right now, I can pretty confidently say that any of those faces are better looking than the two default characters. The proportions just seem so off.

Another 100 DA:I style game set in the ME universe sounds great to me, so I'll will get this game, and I will love it. But what the fuuck is with those default faces man. That's why I'll continue to use the 'Always On' helmet option in these games.

Are the humans legs not a little too short? Something about their anatomy looks weird to me.

Those eye movements during the conversations are something else as well btw lol.

Ill probably give it a chance but nothing in this game looks particularly attractive to me atm.

Erm . . . yeah. I was coming back around on this as a day-one buy -- that recent 17 minute video seemed polished and cool -- but this is a very messy first impression of how this game will play in more realistic chunks of my time, not just in a slice of planned footage. The combat is the only above-average aspect I saw here.

I'm not surprised the writing hasn't popped at all yet. It's had heavy involvement from the lead writer on Halo 4 if I recall, and it shows in some annoying ways. The squad-mate introductions were so ham-fisted. The pacing in general seems so hyper compared to the trilogy, like the stuff that should be interesting and Star Trekkie is on fast-forward.

The voices are . . . odd. That Krogan sounded so effeminate and not even slightly burly. What the fuck? His vocal chords must weigh more than my head.

I will buy it in April, but my expectations are back to neutral/deeply unsure.
