Activision Announces Spider-Man: Edge Of Time

OK, that Spider-Man game reveal slated for this weekend? Go ahead and keep your date with a liveblog of that WonderCon Beenox Studios-led panel, but go into the endeavor with these knowledge nuggets in tow: the game is called Spider-Man: Edge of Time, and it’ll feature a split narrative in the “connected and evolving” timelines of classic Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099. In other words, Edge of Time will have two distinct settings--the catch being that what Spider-Man does in one world will, supposedly, have an effect in the other as the dual Spider-Mans change the others’ timeline.

I wonder 1) who the voice actors are gonna be (please Josh Keaton) and 2) who else is just fine with some Onimusha 3: Peter Parker and Miguel O'Hara?

Kinda love 2099, so I'm glad they're touching on it again. I don't want to have to play Shattered Dimensions.

I'm pretty sure the last thing we need for Spider-Man games is more gimmicks. The one and only thing that has made any of the Spider-Man games fun is web-swinging and agility-based combat. We don't need COLLIDING WORLDS to make a Spider-Man game fun.

A little skeptical about the premise... I can see this game being awful. 
 
Let's hope they don't get Neil Patrick Harris to do the voice for Amazing Spider-Man.

2099 always remind me of Kamen Rider Hibiki, which is good. 
 
Well anyhow, maybe they're thinking that focusing on fewer dimensions could give them time to make the overall game better? I would've still prefered Amazing/Noir to this but we'll see.

Are these games really selling that well, that they can afford to put one out every year.

I would actually buy Spider-Man 2 again if they re-released it. Best swing mechanic ever.

Should get Rino Romano for the voice acting. Unlimited was a stupid series but Romano was great in it. Christopher Daniel Barnes would be another good one, but I suppose anyone other than the guy who voiced Spidey in MvC3 will be fine. 

I've never played any Spider-Man game after the first two, and I don't think this will change that.

I would be on-board if the plot consisted of going back in time and preventing the third Spider-Man movie.

And next year, can we have a game with the Noir and Ultimate universes, since I liked both of those a bit better than Classic and 2099?

Why the fucking alternate universe crap? Is that REALLY what's gonna make these games better? They need to pull their heads out of their asses and realize that good gameplay is what sells games, not gimmicks.

I really did not like Shattered Dimensions. Some good ideas but poorly executed. So this is that with less dimensions? Great...

Viable platforms?   Yeah!  Can't wait to play this shit on my Amiga. 

Spider-man 2099 is the bomb, yo!

Really liked Shattered Dimensions, so I'm glad this is somewhat of an offshoot of that. 
Amazing Spider-Man and 2099 were definitely the Spider-Mens to go with, at least from a character standpoint.  Both were great in SD.

That's all great and dandy...except Peter Parker isn't Spider-Man in 2099.  Therefore, I say "what the fuck?"

I at least appreciate that this team is trying unique things with the Spiderman universe.

Yeah, also, aren't those two Spideys in different dimensions and not just different timelines? 2099 is not the future of Amazing Spider-Man, is it? "

  @niamahai: Oh, I didn't mean they were totally related, just that I don't think that 2099 is the future of the Amazing Spider-Man universe (616?).

Can't go wrong with more Miguel O'Hara. Shame they just didn't make a 2099 game, but i doubt that would sell. But hey, Peter David is writing it so it's going to be better than the Dan Slott crap we just had..and Madrox  is in it.

I enjoyed the gameplay in SD, although I totally would have prefered an open world idea, as opposed to the "levels". but after playing SD i will prob pick this game up as well (even though i didn't finish SD as i was in the middle of playing it when i got DA2)
