Call of Duty: Black Ops Is Out This November

And, well, that's about it.

No Caption Provided
Activision and Treyarch have announced the name of the next game in the Call of Duty line. The game will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops. It will be released on November 9, 2010. "11.09.10" doesn't quite have the same ring to it as "11/10/09" did, but hey, since when have calendars been a friend to mankind, am I right?

A teaser trailer for the game will air on SpikeTV's GameTrailers TV tonight, so check your local listings for that. The brief bit of text posted on the game's official site also points people to the official Twitter account for Treyarch, as well as the developer's community dude, Josh Olin, for further updates.

So, since we're all in the dark about this one so far, let's open it up. What do you think the Black Ops zombies will be like? I mean, if it's not WWII, they can't exactly have Nazi Zombies, right? So... Islamic Extremist Zombies? Vietcong Zombies (otherwise known as Vietcombies)? Militia Overthrowing The US Government By Force Zombies?

Call of Duty is dead anyways. Now, even with shitty Treyarch attempting to make games (more like mods and reskins) using the IW engine (which isn't going to last thing for every long).
 
I'm not going to be surprised when this sells 10+ million units since gamers have the highest percentage of idiots.
 
I'm guessing the map packs are going to be $20 as well...

Ok so I don't think Vietnam.... It's basically all WWII weapons with just the addition of the M-16 and AK-47, and running through the jungles again, so I don't get why everyone is thinking Vietnam..... If they do go with a Vietnam setting then.... fuck....

The sequel will just be called Black Ops 2 but then it will be changed back to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 but everyone will still just call it BO2.
 
Shortly after the game's release Activision will fuck over Treyarch and all the head dudes will leave.
 
But no one will care because Treyarch hasn't made a good game in ten years.

Funny, except for the part where World at War is better than both Modern Warfare games.

Are you out of your mind, or just seeing what kind of a reaction you can get? WaW was so horrid I couldnt play either the campaign or the multiplayer. Level design was awful across the board. The mundane wave based onslaughts in campaign were straight outa the 90s.  The tanks and dogs in multiplayer were completely unbalanced.  
 
Nazi zombies... okay thats awesome. 1 point awarded.

@lasafrog: I'll agree with you on the campaign, but on multiplayer I will not relent. I think WaW has better multiplayer; just my opinion, say what you will.

I really like Treyarch games, they always get a bum wrap but Nazi Zombies stole more of my time than any other multiplayer game. Hopefully the new Zombies mode is good.

I think I also saw a jet or something, i had it slowed in the final cut and i saw a man in a space suit, helicopter blowing up a bridge, jet and a man that looked castro-esque?
 
Seems like your in a room and some folks are making the protagonsit remember the missions he's been on. Interesting story devise

I'm a sucker for helicopters... better not suck as much as Treyarch's tanks (if you can fly them). Hope to see them continue innovating the Zombies mode, I've had enough of the competitive part of CoD. I'll still buy the game used to spite Activision.

Yeah, the reveal trailer came out today, I can't say it shows much gameplay. I've yet to be dissapointed by the campaign in a CoD game yet, so I've got my hopes up.

The teaser trailer, if it's any indication, hints at a possibly cool idea. It looks like we could be going through the timeline of a black ops solider, with the starting point looking like Vietnam. It would be interesting to see a Call of Duty game move around more than just a few days and weeks, and cover a large chunk of time. I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic, as Treyarch shown to be a solid if unoriginal studio. This might finally be the chance to make a mark of their own, especially with the CoD A-team in shambles.

I'm wondering with the whole loss of IW if there will be some crossover with this game, character wise at least.  I know there was a lot of love for Ghost from MW2, so maybe with the teaser that they showed that the guy they were wanting to bring back was Ghost himself. :/

Watched the trailer today on GT and I have to say I´m interested. Not a lot of details in the trailer, but this whole wetwork/black op scenario sounds cool. I have to say though, if they try and be even more "edgy" with all their violence and hints at/showing of torture, I won´t like it that much. I´m not against showing violence, but CoD has never been about excessive violence (except for WaW).

I wouldn't say there's anything "Black Ops" about the WW2 CoD games. It will be interesting though if the rumors are true about this being set during the Cold War, and specifically have things in Cubs and Vietnam. Doubly so if they play around with the morally ambiguous themes that the MW games flirted with. Interested to see more of the game, though personally getting a bit of FPS-fatigue.
