Civilization V Getting New DLC March 3

Another civilization and scenario pack, plus more multiplayer maps.

Firaxis is still delivering more Civilization V content for you world-eaters out there. This Thursday, in fact, will see the release of a brand new $5 add-on dubbed the “Civilization and Scenario Pack: Polynesia.” Firaxis is also releasing a fresh multiplayer pack for free on the same day, adding three new maps--Ancient Lake, Skirmish, and Ring--to the online part of the game.

As you'd assume after reading the name of the DLC, the paid addition introduces the grand Polynesian civilization to the game. I'm not too clear on what makes these guys awesome, but the PR mentions an all-new skill tree that includes “the fearsome Maori Warrior” and the “enigmatic Moai.” And in case you were wondering, yes, Kamehameha, is the leader.

== TEASER ==As for the scenario part of the DLC, you’ll be tasked with controlling one of four Polynesian kingdoms in a journey to, what else, conquer Polynesia. Special features for this campaign include the ability to expand without injuring cultural growth and a focus on islands and sea-faring. It's called "Paradise Found" for a reason, you know!

This is a PC-exclusive add-on at the moment--no Macintosh release details were noted.

Not really. They said they're going to patch in the ability to play DLC civs in multi-player, but other than that it's just as broken as it was before (no animations, no pop ups with crucial information, other civs unable to contact you, etc). "
Yeh, the main thing bugging me was the insane amount of lag and that people got DC pretty often, when they did there was no good way to reconnect, as most often they would come in as a random civ from some other DC player... which is horribly bad for a multiplayer game.

Yeah, forgot about the Vikings. They were my favorite Civ in Civ4.

So, we still can't be Vikings then?

Just like with Civ IV, I was fooled by the awesome trailer in believing that you could actually play as northmen.

Back to waiting.

Gonna pass on this. Civ 4 had over 30 civs, if Firaxis thinks I'm gonna put another 50 dollars into a more broken game just to get to the same content level of the previous game, they're fooling themselves.

Fuck yes.  Firaxis, give me the go ahead, and I will father your children.  I won't raise the little bastards, but I'll father 'em.

By the time I get tired of what came out of the box for Civ 5, hopefully there will have been a big sale on Steam w/ all the DLC in one lump package.

I will shamefully admit that I will be yelling 'Ka-me-ha-me-haaaaa' before invading a city.

I wonder if the crashes have been fixed, or even looked at. (specifically at large, long games)

No thanks. They are asking for waaaay too much money for just a new Civ. Here's hoping they just make an ultimate edition of all this, and the inevitable expanson packs, when Civ 6 starts to roll around.

None of the DLC has interested me yet for Civ V. Still waiting on the inevitable larger expansion that adds new dimensions to the core gameplay.

Man... I just want an expansion pack with all of the DLC included. Of course, I've already bit on all of the civilization packs so far. Just barely downloaded Nebuchadnezzar last week. Wonder how long I'll be able to resist this new civ?
