Fallout: New Vegas Patches Are Coming

Bethesda plans to drop patches for all three versions of the game.

Fallout: New Vegas has a bug or two. There are crash bugs, animation bugs, scripting bugs, and even bugs that make dogs moonwalk. But while the game has issues, it's important to note that it's still a really good game. It's just, you know, buggy and will often test your ability to ignore flaw.

This will change with time. Speaking with us this morning, Bethesda PR man Pete Hines confirmed that Bethesda is working on patches and updates for all three versions of the game. Specific announcements about these patches are coming, too.

"We are currently working on releasing patches/updates as quickly as possible for Fallout: New Vegas, for all platforms," Hines said via e-mail. "Announcements regarding the patches are forthcoming."

== TEASER ==Numerous bug videos are hitting YouTube at the moment, as players are actively uploading their favorites. I'm partial to the moonwalking dog video, but The Exorcist rotating-head vid is pretty rad as well. What a way to welcome someone in the game, eh? Anyway, I've embedded these clips just below if you'd like to take a gander. I suppose you could also try to experience hitches yourselves in our own copies of the game, but you better do it fast.

Yea, forget delaying the game just a little bit so that our money goes towards the full experience.
Instead, give us some broken code and promise us a patch "at a later date".

I guarantee you there will be a PC mod that fixes these issues before Bethesda does.

I thought when xbox certifies a game they test for this kind of stuff? I think its pretty awful that Bethesda knows these bugs are there from launch and as soon as the game comes out they acknowledge it.

Also the rotating head thing is HILARIOUS especially as that is like the first thing you  see when your character wakes up.

Well good! It's nice to know that they're planning on fixing issues with their clearly busted up game. Having the frame rate drop from 65-7fps every time I buy something on a core i7 rig is a bit ridiculous.

That's still better than waiting weeks or even months to announce a patch. While I personally haven't had any problems with the game yet, I'd like to be able to stop worrying about what might happen as soon as possible.

That rotating head video is fucking hilarious, by the way. Also kind of disturbing....

At best, this article is making a poor case for the need of any patch. I understand that there are some really bad bugs that cause roadblocks to gameplay, but the videos are awesome.

Just a thought, but remember when games used to actually be finished when they were released?  I'm starting to feel like we should be refunded $10 if a game has to be patched within he frst week.

Edit: Also odd that the link I found for those videos in Google is HockeyBroads.com? What the..?

I'm stoked to play this, but I don't understand why they released this obviously glitchy game when it clearly needed fixing up. I mean, did they even hire game testers??

Linear algebra can be hard. Get it wrong, and the matrix you use to specify head orientation and flip the fuck out.

They should do more QA on their products. Did they not play their game at all to notice these bugs pre-release? Lazy motherfuckers.

Well obviously patches are coming, and I'm glad they're on the ball. It's just a shame the game shipped in a broken state.

P.S. The rolling head video is hilarious and I kind of want that in the game. (Not really, but still fun).

I predict an unofficial fan patch for this game.

Before New Vegas, there was Oblivion and Fallout 3.

When will Bethesda hire competent playtesters?

Fact is that games should'nt be broken out-of-box. Just another price we pay for long-term solutions; lazy developing and bugtesting because launch-week patches are more cost effective. Hargarbl.

I highly doubt this was a problem caused by the QA department. I think the guys in the Bombcast were pretty spot on: The game runs on an engine that is jacked as hell and they know the game will sell even with those bugs ... so why not release it, take a deep breath and fix the bugs they find the most youtube videos about?

the rotating head isn't a glitch.  It's a perk that reduces the chance of headshots. It will be in the next COD game.

I agree, the engine is crap and needs to be replaced 100%.  They should use the Just Cause 2 engine.
