Hide Your Shame With the AK Rock Box

You heard it on the radio, you seen it on the TV show.

FACT: An overabundance of stupid plastic video-game instruments is one of the leading threats to the safety and freedom of living rooms across the world today. As much as I love pretending to be a pantsless Keith Moon in the privacy of my own home (as per the court order) those drums have a way of making just about any room look weirdly cluttered. You might as well try and store an old-timey bicycle in your living room. Despite the fact that every third game I buy seems to come with a microphone packed in, I've actually managed to whittle my living room collection down to two guitars, one drum kit, and a couple microphones, with the rest sitting in awkward piles in my garage. It is, at best, an inelegant solution to a patently ridiculous problem.

For those who don't want their living room to look like it belonged to Tom Hanks' character in Big, the goodly folks behind the AK Rock Box have got your friggin' back. Instead of just trying to cram everything into the least conspicuous corner of the room, you could get a fairly classy-looking ottoman that you can pop the top off of and store two guitars, a drum kit, and a microphone. The thing that keeps it from just being a classy-looking ottoman that you can pop the top off of, though, is its patented drum-lift technology, which is basically a scissor lift that you can mount your drums to for easy setup and breakdown. It all looks pretty solid and discreet, though it doesn't look like it would work with the Guitar Hero World Tour drums. You can pick up the AK Rock Box on Amazon right now, where it is apparently on sale for something that is close to approaching the resemblance of a reasonable price.

Woah, that is expensive.  Here's an idea, just hollow out the underside of your couch and store all the crap under there.  Make a trap door under one of the cushions for easy access.

This would be cool if i had the Rock Band set.
And it would have been cooller if they released this frikin game in Portugal which they didn't.
They don't have a clue of how much popular this kind of games are in Portugal.
The folks of Guitar Hero are the ones gaining with this stupid decision made by Rock Band´s publisher.
I hope something like this is made for Guitar Hero.

There's no where to rest the foot pedal. This is dumb, pay $200 to put all your rock band stuff in a box!

$183.32 is reasonable after you've just spent the money for the hardware you'd be placing in this thing to begin with? Just shove the stuff into that inconspicuous corner of the room and throw a blanket over it. Nothing says class like a half-assedly hidden pile of crap.

Hmmm.  Maybe I should just see if all my rock Band stuff fits in the over-sized ottoman I already own.  Brilliant!

I'm up to five guitars and two drum kits.  Do these guys make a sofa?
The price actually isn't that high for furniture.  Even a discount ottoman will run $150-$300.

@Bucketdeth: Oh snap, son!  Us Rock Band players got buuuuurned.

This is a really good idea, but I'm not spending another $185 on Rock Band stuff.  I might just go grab a trunk and break down my drums when I'm not using them.  At any rate, my living room does look stupid with the RB stuff in it.

Lol, my living room looks like a big fake plastic recording studio. I must have at least seven plastic guitars, a plastic bass, three guitar stands, three mics, two drum kits and one mic stand. I really need to hide my shame, the ladies don't come over as often as they used to  :(

Don't hide your feelings.  But seriously, would be good except then I would have two couches in one spot.
