I don't know how you could have a problem with this Jeff given your own history of attempting to make gaming more light-hearted (which it should be by definition). While the Housers have always portrayed GTA in a humorous vein, straight comedy has been woefully lacking in videogame promotion, particularly for "combat" or "violence" titles. Yet this has been turning around of late with Saints Row 2's Gary Busey ads and now, of all publishers, Electronic Arts. First Mercenaries 2 adds some goofy to go with the explode-y, and now Command & Conquer. Think of it, beyond the series standard camp FMV, they are trying to sell it with humor. As RTS games are niche titles despite their fan's pants-wetting ardor, here's an attempt to sell them to people who would otherwise yawn at the prospect. It is also an alternative ad with outtakes or clips for this very purpoose, taking a fine stable of fun and interesting actors and using them to sell the game both to those aware of the campy nature and potential new players who might be curious about the silliness. How could you begrudge that?

This is awesome- It's obviously a joke but I really really really hope they have these people in the FMV that's going to be in Red Alert.  These people all rock so far as I'm concerned. LIghten up :)

Completely agree Jeff. Kraznor said it best "Wow, yeah, that was really forced and terrible in pretty much every way". As you said, the previous C&C games did have ridiculous cutscenes but they were hillarious because the actors weren't trying to parody themselves. This attempt at viral marketing looks so desperate as to be embarassing. I honestly feel sorry for the cast who had to do that. "All your base are belong to us"? C'mon, you're really reaching for a laugh by throwing out that six year old meme.

I loved it, at least they are having fun and arent phoning it in.

OK, so I have figured out RA4. All the time travelling causes a rift in the space time continuum. This would lead to an all-out cross-alternative-reality war between the different factions from the old games meet the new games, 7 factions. Then they start fighting themselves from the alternate realities.  Eventually they figure out that they need to destroy the portal, however this causes the universe to end, but your character used the iron curtain before this happened so you become invincible and somehow survive but in a universe devoid of life. END GAME
In RA5 your mission is to re-populate the RTS universe as you are THE CREATOR. At this point the game turns into RA-Spore-Little Big Planet and all the FMV is user generated a la youtube/singstar but where the developers provide you with some broad scripts for different in-game scenarios in order to maintain some of that RA spirit alive. Micro transactions will consist of HOT slimpy dressed comand units for your military civilisation. It could be an MMO as well. Objective - Harvest resources by conquering other planets in order to ultimately rule the universe (which is endless so the game will have a long shelf life).

By the way, I loved this remix video. The first few seconds I was like - "this is dumb", but then I realised that it was more of a joke than actual advertisment. It feels like this was made up of out-takes rather than in-game dialogue, why would they be dancing or getting kinky in the actual game?

Whatever... I kind of liked it. The cast is star studded, it's hard not to be excited by Jenny M. with a knife!

Well I thought this video was cool but I don't know about Red Alert 3 yet though.

Wow, they got some big actors for this. I hope to God that the gameplay is as good as the predicessors. RA2 is legendary in my books and part of what made it special was its 2D graphics (which were amazing BTW a la Metal Slug). I still think Jenny McCarthy is really damn hot still. Damn.

Man, I was kinda diggin' that, are all those actors in the actual game FMV's!? Now I kinda wanna play it! It's about as viral as a mylanta commercial, but I still liked it. Definitely in the "so lame it's cool" category.
