The problem with "viral videos" is that the moment you set out to make something with that in mind is the moment that the video fails. Of course, I'm embedding this new Red Alert 3 "remix" trailer here anyway, so I guess it's not a total loss?
After watching this for the first time, I think my reaction was a long sigh and the word "yuck."
Maybe I'm mistaken and Red Alert 3 really will feature Jenny McCarthy saying "everybody dance now," but this concept would be way less cringe-inducing if it chopped up more quotes and clips from the actual game. Actually, if RA3 has multiple characters saying "sounds kind of kinky" in the exact same way, maybe it's going to end up being the greatest-slash-worst-slash-greatest-again video game ever made.
The whole thing seems to forget that the entire reason that Command & Conquer's FMV works is because it usually has a dry sense of humor that isn't all slick and self-aware. Here's me hoping that the in-game video doesn't fall in the same trap.
