Klei’s Making a Tactical Strategy Game Called Incognita

BEST DAY EVER?

When the developer of Don't Starve and Mark of the Ninja announces a new game, one listens. That’s why I had a momentary freak out this morning when I learned of Klei Entertainment’s latest, a “turn-based tactical espionage game” called Incognita.

There’s no trailer yet, but a piece of wallpaper on the game’s official website seems to have what look like a screen shot--of sorts. Take a look:

Looks hot, right?

Those bastards! They are developing a SECOND game? Surely this means they will shut down Don't Starve and probably also destroy every machine that runs Mark of the Ninja

Also very interested in anything XCOM-y, but surely "tactical strategy" is a bit redundant?

Klei is one of my favorite developers right now. Mark of the Ninja and Don't Starve are by far the best games to come out for their respective genres in years.

I hope thats the art style they're going with, interestingly different to their usual house style.

So? It's like Commandos... I wished for continuation in its formal self, not FPS shit like last one was. I have high hopes.

Agreed. I don't want to sound rude, but I really dislike their usual art.

As long as its more like Metal Gear AC!D 2, then I'd be down. First one was kinda, 'eh'. That second one, however...secret best PSP game.

So is tactical strategy games going to now be the new common type of game for the lower leveled/indie game developers?

I do need to go back and play more Mark of the Ninja for sure...but all these tactical games coming out kinda feels lame to me. I just don't like strategy games almost ever...whatever. Nobody's making me play them.

I have high hopes for this. Klei has been hitting it out of the ballpark lately.

:O This can only mean one thing: Half Life 3!!!

Erm, anyway, I am really glad XCOM has started a turn-based tactics trend. I'll definitely pick this up; even though I disliked Shank 2, have no interest in Don't Stave, and haven't gotten around to Mark of the Ninja.

I'm sure it's possible to have non-tactical strategies...

Shank was pretty good IMO for what they set out to make: an old-school brawler. Smooth controls and good graphics. If them making Shank bugs you, consider it their warm-up act to show they can make games before they start knocking ones out of the park. I doubt Mark of the Ninja would be half as good as it was if they hadn't cut their teeth on the Shank games first.

Pretty cool that turn-based strategy seems to be becoming a much more common thing now thanks to XCOM's success last year.

It's tactical strategy because you only control a small group of people. Opposed to other strategy games that operate on a higher level (Civ, Paradox Games).

Yup, it's also 20% off right now.
